Anyway, Reimu should be off to solve an incident, then Genjii pops up out of the blue, smoking a pipe. He says, "Don't forget your umbrella, milady, it's raining outside."
Reimu says, "Oh yes, I almost forgot."

Then we never see him ever again after that. Just something like this would make me happy.

Has anyone else played the doujin game Story of Eastern Wind? It's supposed to be a remake of SoEWonderland, but they put all these fucking windows characters in it which made me very angry.

I don't suppose there are any fanmade updated versions of the PC-98 games other than that piss-poor excuse for a remake...

Anyway, I like a lot of them. Yumemi and her SCIENCE magic was neat for flavor. Genji was cute and funny for his banter with Reimu. Sariel had one of the best theme songs ever

I find it much more enjoyable than the Windows era because it kinda feels like ZUN lets you imagine the universe by yourself. Besides, the music is great, and the characters are cute as fuck.

The graphics might not be the best, but fuck it: PC-98 games are better than the windows ones. The characters are better, the music is better, everything is better.

It feels like he's just churning them out now. Not to say I don't enjoy Windows Touhou games, but I feel like the older ones are made with love, whereas the Windows-era games started feeling less like that somewhere along the way...
Probably after EoSD, IMHO.

Same here. When I first found out about Touhou, I figured I'd need to play them in order, so I did, and when I got to LLS and heard Bad Apple!, I really liked it.
Awhile later (not sure how much later...maybe a month?) someone linked to the nicovideo of the vocal version and I didn't recognize it for the first little bit.
I was like "this sounds familiar....??" and then it hit me a few bars in. So weird.

I wonder how many winfriends there are that heard/saw that version and then played the Windows games searching for the song, not knowing what the fuck was happening.

I could probably give more examples, but to be honest, I haven't played many of the Windows games, just because it feels more natural and correct to beat the PC98 ones first. A-anyway, don't be like that!

Oh yeah, sound settings are really important. There was some scrub here that kept insisting Anex86 couldn't emulate the music properly because he couldn't be assed to try messing with the settings for one minute. It is really awful if it's set wrong, though.

Honestly, there isn't much of a difference to me. It's not experience-changing or anything, but he is right; the sound quality is a little better...I mean, I guess the graphics look a little smoother? I honestly can't see a difference in graphic output.

But T98-Next does have this nifty like built-in patching mechanism. That's kind of cool.
I think I'm going to experiment with both and see which one I like better. I've been using Anex for about a year now, and I just discovered the good settings posted by >>9966043 today, so we'll see.
