The fact that ZUN doesn't puts all his heart when doing a new game, in every aspect of it: from the music to the gameplay, scoring and patterns.

It's even more depressing to think that the series will die in infamy and mediocrity and ZUN will never try to collaborate with Taito or Cave to infuse new breath to an staggering saga.

Kappa technology will advance to the point where the remaining humans in Gensokyo will abandon the old ways of belief and superstition, causing the youkai to die out slowly. It's already happened with the echo youkai after the humans realized that it was bouncing sound waves instead of little girls screaming back at you.
Nitori and her kind will inevitably cause the mass extinction of the remaining supernatural in Gensoukyo.

Does Gensokyo have sustainable population growth? Will Mokou and Kaguya outlive everybody to the point that it's only them left?

Reimu has no parents and cannot leave Gensokyo. She's entirely bound to her duties until some guy knocks her up and she passes on the duty of keeping up the barrier to the next generation. Her mother probably ran off to have the time of her life after getting her freedom and all she got was a dumb yinyang ball.

After this happens, spellcard rules will dissolve and the next Miko will usher back in the era of actually exterminating youkai.

I always interpreted her chapter in CiLR to mean the opposite. She was worried at first that Kaguya might leave Gensoukyou, but then she realized it doesn't matter because there would still be many others like her there.

Marisa is one of the weakest characters in the Touhou world, she's only alive because of the protections of the Spell Card system.
She can't even come up with her own spells, she has to steal them, nor can she use them on her own, she has to use mushrooms and the hakkero thingy to even do anything.
And for all that, she has an overly inflated ego that would get destroyed if she wasn't hiding behind the Spell Card system and she had to face an opponent with some real power.
Hell, she got beaten by fucking Cirno. Cirno of all things.

That's not true, she didn't even always have master spark. She's also from the time before spellcard rules. She survived at least 3 fights with uninhibited Reimu.

Also it's not like Cirno is weak or anything. She's not a stage 1 boss and her attacks are pretty random enough to mess you up occasionally. Don't buy into that Cirno is weak thing because of some observation of someone playing Easy modo. Cirno only ever said "I'm the strongest" when she actually did win.

Actually, that's a depressing thing: No one will ever respect Cirno for being the strongest and smartest fairy ever. She'll just be the subject of misunderstood memes and detached wing fanarts where she's capable of melting.

Time is passing. Reimu, Marisa and Sakuya are getting old. No ammount of photo montages of their best moments while the song "why can't we be friends" plays in the background will ever be able to bring closure to the moment they become too old for danmaku.

Meiling's job as the SDM's gateguard keeps her outside practically 24/7. Whatever little sleep she manages to get is from the short naps she takes by the gate, which just gets her mocked or punished. Though they often throw parties, she never gets to attend any of them as she either needs to take invitations or prevent anyone from interrupting them.

In current Gensokyo, it's also a largely pointless job. Most of its residents know better than to mess with the Vampires, or can just challenge Meiling to a Spellcard Duel and get in whether she wants them to or not. Or they can just sneak in, as Meiling does not seem to be particularly good at her job in the first place.

Every time Meiling actually shows up in Canon works, it's to have someone else get past her.

EoSD, the PCs. SSiB, Eirin and Reisen. Inaba, the scene at the front gate during the Rocket party. The Fairy Manga, the 3 fairies just sneak past her.

I would like some examples of her actually stopping an intruder.

Kaguya cannot die, however she continues to feel pain, which is something living things endure. Even though it shouldn't bother her, she naturally gasps for air when asphyxiated due to her bodily instincts, and likewise feels hunger, sickness, coldness, and the like.

One day, the sun will run out of hydrogen fuel and will explode into a red giant, engulfing the earth. One day, an asteroid may collapse with the earth. One day, the heat death of the universe may occur, when irreversible entropy causes a forever-expanding universe to change dramatically. Kaguya, unable to die, would have to endure through all of these events.

You know, that's true. Most people completely forget about that. She could just create a bubble of eternity around Eientei like she did before IN when shit started going to hell with her and Mokou inside, and bingo. Living comfortably for all of eternity with company outliving the universe itself.

Although some may think living indefinitely inside a bubble where nothing ever happens or change would be depressing by itself. Well, at least it's better than the alternative.

I actually feel uneasy, because I know Kaguya is fictional, and I can't rely on her saving humankind from inevitable death from asteroid/solar explosion/heat death of the universe. Everything that mankind has worked towards will eventually and inevitably become nothing.
