No, but this show is otaku because:
a) it was animated in Japan and has a cult Japanese following
but
b) isn't anime.

I watched Adventure Time with my younger brother. It was good.

I didn't know that. Kinda cool.

Is it? I lurked /co/ recently and they seemed to have a good impression of it.

What worries me is that it won't be "adult" enough. Call me a faggot if you want, but I can't enjoy Western cartoons aimed at kids because I know they have bullshit censorship regulations that end up dumbing everything down. Japanese cartoons are slightly more sensible, so I can enjoy those.

That shouldn't really be an issue. You might like Regular Show more, though.

does anybody else find it really funny that

movies (/tv/)
trains (/n/)
food (/ck/)
poltiics (/int/)
architecture (/trv/)
videogames (/v/)

are all perfectly fine topic overlaps for /jp/

but anime (/a/) isn't

It's more aimed at teenagers than kids, I think. I was pretty surprised by the lack of censorship on it myself, there was a reference to sex and no fucking around when it came to killing the bad guys.

batman had a kind of cool art style for the first season but other than that it was shit. Adventure time is boring shit for *OMG SO RANDOM* teens with adhd.

They called the art style for Batman "dark deco" and it was pretty damn cool. The backgrounds were great, the music was great, the voice acting was good, the stories were good. The only things it fell short on were due to censorship and broadcast standards.

Read the writers' bible:
http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/backstage/wbible/

They had some great ideas, but some obviously never made it due to the censors. I'm still amazed with what they got away with, though.
