I agree about the battle system, it is quite fun.
Fighting bosses feels pretty cool.
I really like how its a real MMO with a world to run around in, instead of instance dungeons like most other action rpg mmos.

It went through a few phases, it was really good right as they introduced their cash item stuff. It was on-par if not slightly better than the normal stuff you could get.

Then they added a few more weapons, and the cash shop variants were disgustingly overpowered in very game breaking aspects. So everybody just started hacking instead.

Now the cash shop stuff got toned down, but most of the community has died except for brazilians and hackers, and the admins refuse to do anything about hackers. I've sent in at least 20 videos (that they require) for hack reports. Three of them of the same guy in one month.

I've stopped playing several months ago. Its a shame to see such a good game ruined. At least the soundtrack will always be awesome.

also it going to be dependent on the game you want to play. that graphics card would likely be fine for some non-gpu dependent games where as others would be hard to play with it.

Yes but it was still fun and the customization was pretty great. C21 was nice too if you weren't in the mood for Mecha Musume.

CB was fun as hell in OP and early-post release. I remember the cross-board wars, I think /jp/ made a guild on WIZ.

I just want a mecha MMO to play, I don't like SDGO and MWO is too "raw" for me right now and I can't enjoy it. Every other mecha MMO aside RF online maybe is dead or irrelevant and RF online sucks.

Not really, it's because you have complete retards running around talking in some shitty weeaboo English on a Japanese language game. It's very annoying to the game's primary customers so they block them.
Whilst non Japanese MMOs don't tend to block people by region, they still run separate servers for different languages since it's pretty frustrating being grouped with other people that have no idea what you're saying or why you're getting mad at them.
Same reason when I used to play WoW I'd always quit whenever I got grouped with people who either couldn't or wouldn't speak English since you could never explain stuff to them etc. Though I would often leave whenever I saw a black character too, but that's a different story.
However, with Japanese games is that they attract a much more retarded foreign fan base, like /a/ level idiots. In the end it's much better to simply cater to the Japanese audience rather than dealing with foreigners, something along them lines. Though latency presumably plays a part too, I just wouldn't say it's their main reason for it.

Why? It's a very easily-explained phenomena. Within your collection of people who play MMOs, you have:

- A small fraction of normal adults.
- A small fraction of people who don't speak English as a primary language and have a higher focus on its proper usage.

Adults will tend to type properly. So will people who have less experience with English as a primary means of communication. I work in a call center that started taking texts last year, and, in most cases, it is immediately apparently how old the person I'm talking to is (the other medium I handle is online tech support, I never actually speak to people, instead, I only see the results of their typing). Played a little bit of RaiderZ

The game is surprisingly fun. It's basically Dark Souls combat system in an MMO setting.

The main point of the game is taking on huge bosses and monsters with other people though.

There's also an emphasis on crafting.

I think that largely depends on the game. While playing lord of the rings online, everytime voice chat was used I only heard 30+ years old with jobs, kids, etc. Maybe it was because I choosed my guild very carefully.
I wish I could play mabiongi but I don't live in the US, but I've been playing Atlantica Online. Despise the rather large cash shop, the advantages are largely negligible and cosmetic, and you can buy them from the AU if you want. The combat system is really fun and doesn't get old.

Life is too short to waste it away playing these games.

What is the appeal of MMOs? Sometimes I think about playing them so that I can maybe set up some bots and try to make real money by selling ingame currency, but it's just too much of a bother and I can feel my life wasting away as I look at the game.

The gameplay of MMOs is so lifeless, everything feels like a very shallow RPG made in 2005 but instead of NPCs there's just a lot of retarded people and people who are very mean, the story is either non-existent or is just put in there to give some semblance of a justification for whatever fetch quest or dungeon you have to do for the 100th time.

Why? Why do people play these awful games? I just don't understand why they pay the money and spend so much time on these terrible games when even the most forgettable and generic singleplayer RPG is still better than every single MMO that is most commonly played today.

The problem with MMOs is that the developers constantly try to dance around the elephant in the room. It's just a fact that MMOs are limited and it is currently impossible for an MMO to have the gameplay of a game that doesn't need to have hundreds of players playing simultaneously.

They're not willing to admit this though and they're constantly trying to develop gimmicky workarounds to simulate aspects of singleplayer games. For example, Vindictus and its shitty attempt at making a hack and slash MMO, but even that was severely limited and everything had to be instanced.

MMOs can be great if they embrace the things that they can offer that no singleplayer game can offer. Massive sandbox environments that promote creativity on the part of the player are the best example of this. There have been a few games like this and they were all great. Player created cities and housing, player made markets and stores, theft and murder, these are things that singleplayer games will never be able to replicate until we have true artificial intelligence that can behave like real humans.

For some reason though, every MMO developer is either an idiot or scared to try something drastically different, so we're stuck with a million different MMO clones with each having their own half-baked gimmick strapped onto it as the selling point.

All I wish for is for mmo is:

- no story shit quest system and no questing as a m ain source of exp
- usage of skills increase your skill exp levels and level
- complex stat system with many stats and stat types
- complex skill bonus, perk and skill customization system
- "classes/jobs/professions" are temporary and you gain them depending on the world issues and what you want to do. it gives you some additional perk/bonuses and customization but ultimately frees you from altitties and lets you focus on building your character
- all items, equipment and economy is completely player made and not generated through "npc vendor trashing" or "wolves dropping bags of gold". instead, the most valuable currency has to be found/mined/created somehow and people trade with it. in the early stages bartering should be commonplace
- ranged classes suck and aoes can actually miss

There are so many ideas that get thrown around by anons that seem obvious but are never implemented.

Why, you ask? Money and effort. Why would you spend time and budget making something good when making a shitty game and putting cute girls in it with a cash shop is more than enough to make loads of money and takes no effort.

There are good MMOs but a lot of them are flawed because of budget limitations and some of the good ones were either shut down due to lack on interest or were forced to change beyond recognition in order to stay alive.

G17 update happened two days ago. Everyone who has ever played, and everyone who came from Yurop have all logged on at the same time, flooding the server. In addition, Nexon fucked up as usual and half the stuff is in Korean and the servers are probably configured for Korean internet again. Even in Ruairi ch 7 the servers were flooded. I can't imagine what it's like on popular servers in channel 1.

It's an old RPG from 2004, anime style, but kinda old graphics. It's tagline is something about "fantasy life." It used to be called a Harvest Moon MMORPG by /v/ and possibly /jp/ way back when.

It has randomized instanced dungeons, cinematic story line quests (separated into chapters called "Generations"), and a weird battle system that was formerly like playing rock paper scissors, but is now casualized and full of cooldowns like modern MMOs.

Since it's old, you can do lots of non-combat things. It's not like Wurm or H&H. I don't know anything about Runescape but it's probably not like that either. There are no classes, although there's a skill specialization system you can use to give bonuses to certain skills, and there's are tons of item crafting skills, probably as many as combat skills. You can't build where ever you want, but there are paid houses and also little facebook-minigame style personal homesteads where you can farm stuff. (although farming stuff isn't the same as planting down items that you can actually gather useful things from). There's also a farming system but you can't choose where the farm is.

Item crafting involves gathering items from preset locations and then using it to make stuff. There's a bout a billion things to do in the game so I can't really fit it into one post. It's not an open world pvp and take your stuff game, though. Try looking through some of the articles here.

One thing worth mentioning is that you can play your own music that you write using something called MML.

Open world but it has instances in it too.
Most of the enemies are hotkey spam but some of the bosses can get kind of action oriented.

It's pretty much what I expected.

Worse combat than in RaiderZ which is in turn worse combat than in PSO2 which is in turn worse combat than in the Nexon action-MMOs / Souls games / Monster Hunter. Haven't tried any type of PVPing yet or have any idea how that goes down but between positioning lag and the combat system and the game seeming to be an ultimate "my gear/level is better than yours, I win", I'm expecting nothing at all.

Probably won't be playing after a couple days have passed, my friend already logged out to play to RaiderZ instead and I hate that game so now I'm alone.
