So, have you been to church today?

>> No.9913552

Pascal was an idiot. You think God would really accept people who believe in Him only for "just in case"?

>> No.9913558

what if there is a supreme being, but he only rewards people who don't believe in him

>> No.9913571

Having been raised as a Catholic, I've been to church many times before as a child, mostly because my parents expected me to go.
Looking back on this as an atheist, many of the things brought up there can be accepted as positive even if you choose not to believe in a god. Christianity isn't just about delusions, it's actually a way to convey positive messages and morals to people who need to be pressured into believing them.

I went to Church last night. I like going on Saturday night because there's less people and it's cooler out, plus I have sundays completely free!

I can agree with this. I went through the "dark and edgy atheist" phase once I stopped believing in grade school, but years since then I've come to understand that all religions have some good points, though many of them drown under the voice of retarded preachers, fanatics and moralfags (which seems to be the majority of religious people I've met sadly).

>> No.9913603

What's the point of discussing religion here? There's brilliant individuals who believe in god and various religions and there's brilliant people who are atheist and only believe in evolution.

But most people on 4chan are atheist or agnostic so it's just going to be a circle of people masturbating their own beliefs to no end. It's no better than people who never leave their circle of church friends and only discuss things with them.

I actually enjoyed going to church, even though I'm an ``edgy teen atheist faggot''.

Religions are interesting and the church I used to go to was beautiful. I liked the stained glass windows and the lit hallways. They had a wooden cabinet with candles inside. You could insert a coin and one random candle would light. I'd always try to light a row of candles.

Oh, forgot to say. Roman Catholicism (the most professed religion in my country) is like a classy Judaism with cool churches and an European feeling.

Which one?

Going by logic, you'd have to find the one religion with the absolutely worst hell (or equivalent thereof) of all of them and follow that specific religion.

I like christian symbolism and churches, because they're pretty and robes look cool. Services are really boring though and I don't want to give my money away to people I don't know.

there is a difference between beliefs based on something real and beliefs based on faulty logic without any evidence.

brilliant people can be wrong.

There's evidence and answers and arguments and beliefs about things you deem illogical in spades. You have the internet and all the time in your life to look it up. I can't give you the answers, and most friends and family can't either. 4chan can't give you the answers certainly atheism and agnosticism reigns supreme.

So go and search if you're curious. Or assume and believe in the things you believe in and make your generalizations.

Islam.
In most other religions like Christianity or Buddhism it isn't mandatory to be a member of the religion to have a chance to be rewarded after your death. Allah sends all non-muslims straight to hell.
