What NEET hobbies do you have?

I was going to learn Japanese, but then I realized that I don't really care enough to bother.

I go through periods of intense interest in hobbies and then periods of complete stagnation and boredom. I wish I could find a hobby that I could do all the time.

Sometimes I find an anime that I really enjoy or a new game that I enjoy and then I obsessively do that for days until it's over or I just burn out. Then I spend a few months refreshing /jp/.

I'm a shaman.

Most of the time I tend to my plants which I have growing in concealed areas throughout the house and then when they're finished growing I explore the spiritual planes of existence.

Doing this has given me a real purpose in life. Before this I cared about very little at all.

Doing drugs gives me serious psychosis across the board, even smoking weed leaves me feeling like I have HPPD. Naturally, most people would suggest not doing drugs anymore for someone like me. What is your opinion as a self proclaimed shaman, on individuals such as myself taking drugs, do you see the psychosis as a spiritual gain or a negative consequence?

The only especially smelly plant that I'm familiar with is marijuana, but you can eliminate the odor issues with some carbon filters. Growing mushrooms has no odor so that's an easy one as well, if you want to brew ayahuasca then every plant that I know of that contains DMT is legal to grow so you don't have to hide that and you can just grow it outside in a garden, cacti like the San Pedro are also legal to grow and it's an easily available source of mescaline.

Video games, anime and manga.
Mostly old video games, or cool indie/doujin stuff like YN related games, Space Funeral and that recently translated Witch's House.
I can't stand most recent stuff, though I have enjoyed Dead Space 1 and 2 recently.

>What is your opinion as a self proclaimed shaman, on individuals such as myself taking drugs, do you see the psychosis as a spiritual gain or a negative consequence?

I would say that it depends on what you're looking for in your life and if pursuing spirituality through drug use is a lifestyle that you would see as appealing.

I've developed HPPD, but I see it as a spiritual gain. I think of it as something like a residual glimpse into the worlds that I spend so much time exploring, an altered state of consciousness that I'm able to permanently experience, so in that way I love it. I came into these drugs with that spiritual mindset though and without that then I probably would feel differently about HPPD.

If I just used drugs for recreational purposes then having HPPD would probably be unpleasant since in some ways it's kind of like the trip doesn't really end, but I'm perfectly fine with that.

I believe that whether or not you see HPPD or any permanent mind altering effect as something that's good or bad is based upon your perspective and the reason for why you're taking the substances. For example, I'm almost certain that there is no shaman in areas like South America that doesn't have HPPD, but they don't think of it as an ailment because it's part of the path that they chose to walk in their life.

Interesting, I just wanted to hear what someone with the shamanistic approach to drug use would think of HPPD and psychosis. I kind of figured it would be along the lines of accepting it as a part of the experience rather than the typical negative view.

Its all very interesting stuff, just the things were able to see with a little experimentation. Its crazy to think that our brain is possible of such extraordinary journeys with just a little outside aid.

Thanks for replying.

Also teaching English to semi-literate Japanese speakers online, which, coincidentally, is fucking up my grammar! I add exclamation points to everything now!

It's like they don't fucking understand if you don't add a fucking exclamation point!

I live on my own, but I don't sell any drugs. My grandfather passed a few years back and I received a bit of life insurance money. Used that money to purchase a small trailer and I live out in the country now on a small bit of land that I bought.

Things are so inexpensive out here that selling drugs isn't really worth the risk to me. The gas money I would spend to regularly drive out to a mail box in town to ship the drugs would probably cost me more than I spend all month. I usually just set aside a couple minutes each day to make a few dollars on the internet and that covers my needs. Only ever spend maybe a couple hundred dollars a month in total.
