So I like the whole touhou thing in general, but bullet hell isn't really my cup of tea, nor are fighting games. I vaguely recall playing some RPG-ish touhou game... genius something, but although the difficulty in it was fun, the whole "Grind for a week for a single 0.001% drop for a single part of a weapon for a single party member" thing was not.

My question is, are there any other rpg-ish touhou games worth a look, or has that one I tried changed in any way since then?

Or just talk about your favourite game related to touhou, whatever.

Why the fuck would anyone do this in a single player game? It at least makes some sense in an MMO, but in SP RPGs it just seems unnecessarily sadistic.

That was basically why I dropped it. I liked the fact that it was still a rather tough game, but I didn't like the fact that it graduated to 'you have to use every party member' dungeons, while not providing enough equipment to actually go around, unless you want to grind for maplestory-like periods of time.
