Gensokyo has a dark streak running through it, it just isn't the focus of the series. Think of it like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland or Grimm's Fairy Tales. Plenty dark already, but faggots keep insisting on making OMG SO DARK versions that completely miss the subtlety and point of the originals.
