I am failing two of my classes and have been rather depressed lately. I also had two exams for said classes (which I failed) and skipped my Japanese class 4 days in a row. I'm not failing that class though.
However, today I ran into a student from my Japanese class on the way to University and she asked why I haven't been there and that everyone misses me. I felt bad and said I would surely be there tomorrow.

When on campus later in the day, I had to go to the library to finish already late homework, but Asians tend to camp out in the library and my Japanese class is full of Chinese. I didn't want to have another awkward moment with another classmate like before and have them yell at me for skipping class, so I went to anther school building with computers.

But my luck was horrible and right as I turned a corner in the building, I bumped RIGHT into one of my Japanese professors. Even worse, it was the one that is always real tough on my grades and gets angry at me for being late to class all the time.
She scolded me and then started lecturing me, in Japanese, how I should not skip class and that I was a bad boy.
It was like fate conspired against me.

Today I learned to never skip Japanese class and keep up with my reps.

So similar writing systems make it similar? Can you understand German, or Portuguese or Swedish just because they use Latin script? No. Also I made the connection between Russian and English because of the Greek/Latin influence on the western world. Do you not realize everything to do with science is Latin/Greek in English and pretty much every other European language? Does that make them similar, no. Try something simple like counting to 10 in Chinese and Japanese. "Oh see the symbols are all the same", wrong fuckhead, they sound different because they use different words. Do you even know what kanji is? How kana was derived? I hope you are not the same guy taking the Japanese lessons because you suck at it.

It's probably taking you a long time because you're handpicking them. Good systems for kanji learning will build you up through different radicals or primitives, so that you can learn many similar kanji at one time. Stroke order isn't really a factor there. Seriously think about giving Heisig a shot (or at least Kanji Damage in the given order) as the imaginative memory thing works very well for a lot of people. You can learn vocabulary afterwords and it will be much easier. If you really want to memorize kun and on-yomi there is Heisig vol. 2 but most people skip it.

I can sort by either grade level or strokes. Both work. Whatever I feel like working on. I just copy each one into Kanji Damage and Jisho, and add the kanji into Anki with at least one or two vocabulary words that use it.

At first I tried to go straight to vocabulary but kanji made it impossible for me. I wasn't able to distinguish between them, had no idea of their meanings, and was extremely discouraged by the prospect of having to drill all of them into my head by brute force. If you go through Heisig or Kanji Damage you aren't going to be able to read Japanese when you are through, but vocabulary will be infinitely easier to learn because you'll know what you're looking at. But do what works for you, not everyone is the same. You could try out vocab first like I did.

I don't understand why having a different glyph for each word, resulting in thousands of glyphs, is not stupid. Therefore, you have to put in twice the effort of learning a glyph, then learning its meaning. Western languages are superior because you only have to learn the meaning of words.

I learned that in media, people are more likely to try something out if they believe that there is a great deal offered. For this, quantity wins out over quality, although the quality of the work determines whether or not people continue with it. This could be exploited by establishing the promise of more of something without actually offering it, and then moving onto something entirely different. I'm still not quite sure if this would eventually become inefficient, however.
