If any of you actually have been to/lived in/ or live in Japan, can you tell me if it's more expensive to live in Osaka or Tokyo? I'm going to be looking for a job in Japan and I'd rather live in Osaka then Tokyo personally.

That's fucking dirt cheap compared to where I live right now. The cheapest around here is like $600 a month for just a barely 10x10 bedroom in someones house. Your own apartment? $1000 and up per month.

To be honest, I just made a cross country trip from NY to Seattle and frankly... I really preferred the cities I stopped in along the way than New York. NY is as cracked up as it is portrayed to be. Sure it's nice to visit but it really depends on where in NY or Long Island that you want to live...

Osaka is definitely cheaper

The trade-off is that Tokyo is a much better place to live if you enjoy Otaku culture. Osaka will definitely be less conducive to your hobbies.

Good but one would want to supplement this with the Dictionnary of Japanese Grammar series or go with something a little more beginner friendly, like Genki.

Also I recommend making personal decks and fill them with words you stumbled upon yourself, because learning words sequencially from Core2k/6k can be a little demotivating at times.

Of course. I think it's a great way to start, though. It makes the kanji comprehensible and teaches you to write them, rather than having them look like an incomprehensible mess that you just have to drill into your head.

Is that even supposed to be expensive? I lived in the City of London in a 10 sq. meters room (flat share) and I had to pay £585 a month (roughly $940), this was 2 years ago, prices increased since then, we are at least looking at $1000 / month.

(Bill were included but you don't do shit in a 10 sq meters room, so it's not like bills did cost a lot to the owner...)
