Why would /jp/ ever meet with /a/, /v/ or /a/? I thought people here were at the stage where they're fine with their social isolation, rather than being so desperate for it they lower their standards dramatically. That's /r9k/'s gist.

I love this argument. It has so many flaws, it reminds me of weeaboos who shout anime and manga are imageboard core culture because all japanese imageboards were meant to talk about it.

Go look at /jp/'s IRC channel. Yes they don't represent everyone but they are some of our most active and ``respected'' posters and most of them talk like fucking /v/tards. The whole hating on /a/b/v/ thing is just fake elitism, once a /jp/er gets on steam or an MMO or anywhere else that isn't /jp/ he becomes as retarded and /b/-like as the rest. If you think there are still pure /jp/sies left in 2012 you are deluded

>> No.9876010

>>9876001
#/jp/ has nothing to do with /jp/. There are a few /jp/ related channels on rizon but they're all +s.

>> No.9876015

> There are a few /jp/ related channels on rizon

Okay great so instead of #/jp/ you have #jbcs and other lifeless dumps. So you can talk like /v/tards there instead of #/jp/ but still maintain the veneer of elitism because you aren't using the main channel. That's just great. That's really great.

>> No.9876028

>>9876015
I don't even see how that claim of yours is supposed to prove anything. rizon's /jp/ related channels don't have to represent /jp/ on 4chan.

>> No.9876044

>>9876028

If those who idle in #/jp/ (aka annoying /v/fags) post often on /jp/, which from the fact that they namedrop /jp/ all the time and have many tripfags in their channel is quite likely, then clearly the channel does represent /jp/ since they share a userbase. "#/jp/ has nothing to do with /jp/"? Don't be stupid, are you blind or did you just not notice Sudo and his fatass followers in there? They are what counts as /jp/sies these days, face reality

>> No.9876045

The so called /jp/ steam group is just a bunch of circlejerking /v/ermin who settled here not too long ago. They are only ``respected''' among themselves.

What is a "proper exchange"?

People communicate differently in different mediums. If there's a "true" nature it's how they talk in real life.

E-egos are serious business. Everyone who is on IRC or Steam or both is shit, and they make up 90% of the board now.

Except me, I'm awesome because I'm the best.

>> No.9877335

IRC drama used to be all over /jp/ when people like Eksopl and Jones were here.

>> No.9877344

>> No.9877374

>>9877335
I just mean the percent of the board using IRC or Steam was lower in the past than it is now, not that it wasn't present.

If you'd like, we can go further back to when 90% of /a/ was the inverse and would never even consider being on IRC and when Steam was restricted to Counter-Strike and Half-Life owners instead of its current status as "the videogame Facebook".

>> No.9878143

There's also the steam groups which aim for a peaceful coexistence of /a/, /v/, /vg/ and /jp/ users who like both anime and videogames.
Drama if I remember is not allowed.

What's steam?

I don't use IRC.

I come here for 'Otaku Culture'--also, 'NEET', 'European', 'Anarcho-Communist', 'Flat-Chested', 'Shrine Maiden', and 'Touhou' culture. The posters here seem to be more intelligent and less likely to overreact, on average.

I am the 'new' /jp/, I suppose, since I haven't visited here for more than about two or three years. I think all these stereotypes tell more about the people who state them than they do about the people they supposedly describe.
