WOW, DAMN, STUFF'S PRETTY EXPENSIVE.

Can I do this sort of thing by hand? Or with a sewing machine?

>> No.986265

My grandma can do this shit for free. Grandmas are awesome.

>> No.986271

Remember when your grandma used to sit with that piece of cloth held in a wooden ring, and she'd be sewing on it? That's hand embroidery. It's extremely time consuming.

You can pay places that do custom embroidery to put on a pattern of your choosing. There's usually one a mall somewhere, or maybe that's just my area.

>> No.986273

>>986261
You CAN do it with a sewing machine, but it takes some skill, as it's not really designed for that at all.

If we're talking real, genuine sewing of clothes, instead of the embroidery we were discussing, then it's actually not that expensive.

Depending on your taste in material, anyway. That's where you're going to get hit the hardest; decent fabric costs money.

texture, thickness, material, etc. picking out the right fabric can be a difference between just a 'nice looking sandpaper doll' or a like-life texture ;_;

Target. Cheap Singers are around that range. Cheaper on sale.

If you're slightly mechanically inclined, you can also get one from a thriftstore, but you'll have to do some maintenance (oiling, etc.) to get any sort of decent performance. might get lucky though.

Sewing by hand is cheap, and it's a good hobby. Plus, it'll let you understand what you're dealing with a little better.

i remember this one time anon started this thread about his one of a kind 1:1 scale nyoron doll which he by hand. claimed he couldn't draw for shit but can make dolls like mother fucking alice. he didn't even bother to draw out his cuttings and just sew away as he see fits. wish i had saved the pics of it since it looked pretty damn awesome, not to mention you can hold it like the 'real' thing.
