Why doesn't 4chan have quote tags so we can get rid of greentexting once and for all?

>> No.9844900

Why don't you just use. "" like a normal person.

>> No.9844902

"tfw no gf"
"implying X"

>> No.9844910

``implying you aren't a major nerdlord''

>> No.9844918

>>9844910
"who are you quoting, spergonerd?"

>> No.9844911

Because there's already a simple, commonplace standard for quoting. It goes back decades to email, mailing lists and newsgroups, and has even made its way into many internet standards and RFCs.

It looks like this:

> Who are you quoting?

>> No.9844922

Quote tags? Please go back to whatever shitty forum you come from

>> No.9844934

>>9844922
It may shock you to learn this, but 4chan has markup tags. It even has BBCode!

>> No.9844938

Dude that pic is hot as HELL!

>> No.9844946

>>9844934
[quote]4chan has bbcode[/quote]

>> No.9844947

That would only stop the people that use it for bullet points.

People would continue to use it for stuff like >>9844902.

>> No.9844948

>>9844946
Who are you ``quoting"?

>> No.9844949

>>9844947
But then it wouldn't be green anymore and I'm sure that would be a major turn off for most of the people misusing it. Although I'm sure it's part of the "fun" for moot on 4chan and he would never do such a change.

>>9844948
It's '' and not " for the last quotation mark.

>> No.9844954

>>9844946
It used to have smilies too. :eng101:, :sage:, etc.

The text boards have BBCode.
The image boards have [spoiler], [code], [math] and [eqn].

>> No.9844958

>>9844949
Am I doing it ``correctly'' now?

>> No.9844967

>>9844958
Yeah.
