Read up on how she met Murasa. She went out with a boat full of people, and purposefully let them all drown just so that there wouldn't be any witnesses as she befriended Murasa. That's just one occurrence.

She originally sided with the youkai just because youkai needed to continue to exist for her to continue using the black magic that keeps her youthful. She sided with youkai out of personal greed for immortality. This was LONG before youkai and humans ended up getting along like they do today. (PMiSS mentions that youkai can be seen playing in the streets of the human village and that there really isn't a fear of them nowadays.)

Byakuren is a murderer who sided with other murderers just to ensure an unnaturally long life for herself and herself alone. She eventually supported the youkai for the youkai's sake, but that didn't stop her from killing people for it. She is an AWFUL creature.
