Most of the Japanese are also game otaku. They also grew up playing and getting pissed off at all those old games.

James Rolfe's nerd character is obviously an exaggeration of himself anyways. You can especially tell when he shows the home movies of his childhood self playing NES games autisically. But that's why I like him, because I'm also a 30 year old guy who worshipped his Nintendo Power as a kid. I look forward to his movie, and I'm actually happy that he's having all sorts of success from this AVGN thing.

Watching AVGN isn't only about the comedy. His videos are a great history lesson on the entire medium of video games. He's provided an excellent, expansive portrait of classic gaming for those that weren't able to experience it at the time, and his videos also serve as a nostalgia trip for those of us who have been gaming since the 80s.
