I never understood the East-West description of geography.
It seems arbitrary, like the mnemonic 'lefty loosy, righty tighty' for taps and valves.
You can't have a 'rotational' descriptor in left-right or East-West terms.
It all comes from London being the centre of the known universe and we're left with this stupid description of geography.

My teacher in Grade 1 said something like this once.

I'm 25 and I still get confused. Left and right are quite arbitrary when it comes to rotating things, though in general I figured out that it's measured along the top arc, if the axis of rotation is horizontal or along the arc further away from you, if vertical.
