Japan is the closest to the future.

Japan is technologically behind as fuck. They're still running Windows ME with 1024x768 resolutions, and browsing the internet through phones that would be considered dated in the West over ten years ago. Hell, they're all still using HTML 4.01 and only supporting the Shift_JIS character set.

I have no idea where this myth that Japan is some futuristic place comes from. Most of their software/hardware is Western and it's lagging behind more than some African countries. It probably has the lowest technological progress to GDP ratio in the world.
