That only happens in anime and VNs. In real life, you get irradiated and poisoned by an uncaring Jewish doctor and his team of middle-aged, fat ugly nurses and then kicked out onto the street to fend for yourself as your hair and teeth fall out and you turn into an lich-like being with the smell of death lingering about you. Everyone avoids you, as if you carry the plague. When you can't even walk or care for yourself anymore, you're shoved into a back room in the cancer ward aka death-row to be forgotten about until you die.

There's nothing romantic about it at all.
