http://www.gallup.com/poll/155003/hold-creationist-view-human-origins.aspx

>Forty-six percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years. The prevalence of this creationist view of the origin of humans is essentially unchanged from 30 years ago, when Gallup first asked the question. About a third of Americans believe that humans evolved, but with God's guidance; 15% say humans evolved, but that God had no part in the process.

>Angels don't just sing at Christmastime. For most Americans, they're a year-round presence. A new Associated Press-GfK poll shows that 77 percent of adults believe these ethereal beings are real.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/health/2012/05/07/fat-forecast-42-of-americans-obese-by-2030/

>About 32 million more Americans will become obese by 2030, upping obesity rates to 42 percent of the U.S. population, according to a new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

>The report also predicts that the proportion of Americans who are severely obese, meaning more than 100 pounds overweight, will reach 11 percent, about double the current rate.

Obesity is one of these self-solving problems.

>46% of Americans are creationists

Bullshit. That data is skewed somehow. 46% in predominantly Baptists areas in the deep South maybe.

Well since the majority of Americans believe in God there's nothing surprising about that.

No, it's not skewed. It does include people who are like 'yeah, sure I guess I'm a christian', I bet though.
People who probably don't care all that much about it, but it may be what they believe.

Most Christians aren't even creationists though. Roman and Orthodox Catholics aren't, and neither are many practitioners of the old world Protestant sects.

There's a rather large dichotomy between theism and the notion that the earth is less than 10,000 years old.
