Eirin isn't perfectly immortal, she's immortal to an extent. Only Kaguya and Mokou are referred to as the eternals as such. Eirin probably just doesn't age or get sick, probably has some wild regeneration, or a drug for that.

There are a lot of far Eastern folk tales where eating livers has some special magical significance, so it isn't anything new.

Yama would keep hammering Mokou, but Mokou would refuse to give up. Eventually Yama would relent because she'd realize that, no matter how many times she destroyed Mokou's body, it would simply regenerate, and Mokou's spirit could not be broken.

Mokou is deeply introverted. That's why she lives alone in the woods and she won't even talk to the people she rescues from Youkai.

But somehow she seems to have developed a close friendship with Keine.

I would assume that, after centuries of losing everyone she cared about, Mokou tried to prevent herself from forming relationships. That's why she became so introverted. But somehow she ended up befriending Keine, even after trying to force herself away from other people.

I think that would make the loss of Keine especially bitter.

As far I know, the reincarnation in Buddhism and Hinduism are to reach the "perfection" until then, you will keep reincarnating. If we consider a deity a perfect thing, it means that they can't die nor reincarnate like a mortal, but they can choose a mortal body to reincarnate and teach stuff to the humanity.

I thought I was getting the hang of it upon realising that the majority of buddhist "deities" are simply mortals that have dropped out of the cycle of reincarnation, but I lost it again upon realising said "majority" is actually spread all over the place, with sects in Tibet, China, Japan, what have you. And in Japan there's supposedly a theist buddhist sect that has the original Hindu pantheon, but none of the Hindu teachings.
