Does anyone else here have this fear and suspicion that almost everyone on /jp/ has a job and is very well off, living on their own and socializing on a regular basis?

What if the whole NEET culture here is a lie propagated by people seeking escapism from their humdrum 9 to 5 life?

Anyway, most of 4chan are university students, along with a few underage who are either in highschool or are fuckups.

Oh I'm sure there are a lot of bottom 0.1% adults who are shut-ins living with family (what the Japanese call "hikikomori,") or who don't seek work (NEET,) but such folks tend to have simple "blue-collar" interests and/or drug addiction to feed, and wouldn't find themselves spending time or energy on the complex potentially-expensive-yet-not-involving-cocaine pursuit that is Japanese media fandom.

Seriously, you folks on this board know more about how to get Japanese media for free than the Chinese bootleg disc makers do. And you wouldn't if you weren't intellectually active your whole lives. You're white-collar, and you're gonna stay that way too unless you chose a really philanthropic major, and you're "intellectual property" "thieves" so I assume that won't be a problem.

What the heck is wrong with you suicidal people?

I sit on a mattress in a room with barely any furniture in front of my cheap laptop, have a poor mother with bad personality and I'm still happy just to be alive. I'm 25 and didn't have true friends or a girlfriend in highschool. Due to being extremely unsocial, I dropped out of school. I never worked or plan to work in my life. I live of disability money. I don't have a license, can't program, and don't have any other noteworthy skills.

But you know what? Not even once I thought about suicide. I want to live.

Also, I don't understand what's so great about having a job and earning more money that I don't even need. I have other goals, like becoming good at drawing and to move out.
And once I've moved out of here, I'll try to learn more things and enjoy my life even more.

>> No.9713125

I'm one of those people that managed to climb out of the dark pit that is depression and anxiety.

That being said, I was never a NEET, but I was extremely close to being one and managed to skip school enough that I almost lost my final year of high school.

It was difficult, and I don't know if it was worth it in the end. I managed to enroll in a local university hoping to land a job that would allow me to earn a good salary, so I could eventually quit and live off the interest. Of course, that's becoming more and more unfeasible.

I've never really wanted or needed a girlfriend and I was always a loner and my interest have always leaned towards the weird; I always have high autism scores on those tests that are posted on /jp/. But in the 4 years that I've attended college, I've been miserable. That is until I found another /jp/sie on campus, dealing with the exact same shit that I was. We hit it off and now we're best friends.

So if that's your definition of normal, then I guess I am.

Hardly any at all. They teach you a lot of calculus in university, but that's to improve your problem solving skills, not explicitly teach you calculus (unless you're a math or physics major). I have never had to solve multiple integrals, solve partial derivatives, rotate curves around axes, or graph polar curves by hand ever since university. Everybody knows the horse is a normalfag, though. And it's true. Just nobody cares.

I am still not sure what a 'normal' even is.

Is it everyone who doesn't sit, closed up in their rooms all day?
Is it anyone who has a job?
OR Is it someone who desires to be 'normal' (relationships, family, foreveralone r9k retards etc.)?

Doesn't make the statement less true.

We here at 4chan embrace all kinds with open arms.

They're embraced as well, take a look at /mlp/. Also, just because people are mean to them doesn't mean they aren't welcome. Look at all the people being mean to each other in this very thread.

/mlp/ is a board created by popular demand because nobody wanted that shit on their own board.

Same as every other board, really.
Especially a familiar little board that split from /a/

Grudgingly. Hardly "with open arms."

We share the dubious honor of being one of four boards made for that sole purpose.

I fail to see how you came to such a conclusion. I'm curious, how exactly does outlining simple statements make me either of those things?

Bestiality is illegal in the states. By that logic we should have a child porn board

I wouldn't call it grudgingly given how much happier both sides are.

It would be much better recieved.
