I like the Kourindou versions. I have the Reimu Kourindou and she is one of the prettiest Reimu figs ever made (imo).

Those are sculpted by i-con, who is definitely the best sculptor at Griffon. I think with a different company, and by default a different production value and presentation, he could be one of the greats.

I always wonder how people do this stuff. Do they just carry a nendoroid around and assemble the pieces on a bench, then take the shot? I would be too afraid of bystanders watching/stealing my stuff, or the wind blowing the fig and breaking it.

I seem to remember seeing a Tenshi with a sword that looked similar to Frostmourne. It might have been custom-made, or maybe it wasn't Tenshi at all and I'm just making this up. That was before I started buying figs.

but someone brought my attention to this. it seems to be the ultimate asuka figurine. but she would cost me 400€. what bothers me is that its a new company and that you mostly pay for the entry plug while asuka herself has the size of your usual 6000 yen fig.

Depends. The key is to lurk places like mandarake, MFC, ebay, etc. Patience and persistence is key.

The less cheaper options are are proxy services to buy off amazon.co.jp and yahoo auctions and plamoya who stocks older figs. But their prices are exorbitant. On the flipside, the figs they sell are new and their shipping options are excellent.

Yeah, Mandarake packaging isn't very consistent. Sometimes the box is too big and sometimes the packing is awful. To be fair though they're coming from a bunch of different stores. For what it's worth the Umeda and Osaka ones have never disappointed me on the dozen orders or so I've placed with them. Nakano fucked me up twice though.

Mandarake charged me 1480Y for a 500g figure. All in all it was still much cheaper than elsewhere. I just really dislike it that all shops don't give you the exact amount of money you have to pay before you actually have to pay. First time I've taken one of these.

I remember seeing someone post a collection picture that included two or three of these Excel Saga figures a while back and decided to try searching for some myself. Lucked out and found an entire unopened box of 10 in Ikebukuro a few weeks back.

Thanks to this I now have the full collection for myself plus four extras, so if that guy (or anyone else) sees this and wants to take them off my hands, let me know.

I know how you feel. Unfortunately, due to the high rate of product exchange I figure it would be more trouble than it's worth. Considering how many orders they get and how much new merch they receive a day, it would be overwhelming to weigh them all and input into a data bank.

If you know the average weight your scale figures or can find it somewhere else, Mandarake does have a shipping rate chart on their site IIRC.

I share a pretty small apartment (would be a studio in the US) with a roommate who's also a big collector, and the bookshelf is literally the only flat surface I have to keep them on. I have about a dozen others scattered around the apartment too, but this is my only single centralized figure shelf.

I'll be moving in the spring, hopefully to a place that has a nice room with westward-facing windows for me to store all my books and figs in.
