When was the last time you read a book /jp/?

Light Novels don't count. VNs even less.

I originally read the first book in 2005, so a few years ago, I finished it all when the last one came out.

Not sure what else am I missing that's worth reading.

I read Slaugherhouse-Five last time we had one of those threads.

I was thinking of reading some mystery novels now.

What's a good place to get books from? I only have access to books translated into my native language, which sucks, and public trackers are pretty bad.

Shelby Foote's 3 Volume History of the Civil War. I am completely serious.

All it takes is a bit of imagination and suddenly McClellan is a twin-tailed tsundere who puts up a strong front but suffers from a secret lack of self-confidence. Are you a bad enough protagonist to hold her in your arms and give her the support she needs to commit the reserves at Antietam? Or maybe you'd prefer to comfort your crying imouto Commissary Banks and help her recover her lost melon pan from that bully Jackson?

There's others too. Not a yankee fan? Well then you have good ol' boy Jeb Stuart as the genki loli type with more energy than sense. Imagine the wacky hijinks when you two get lost in the hills of Pennsylvania! And there's the quick-tempered Bragg. Can you win the heart of this fiery beauty and occupy her Cumberland Gap, if you know what I mean? Or, if you're a more thoughtful type, you could set off to a sunlit veranda to sip tea with the elegant Lee Ojousama. The possibilities are endless!

>> No.9706895

>>9706886
I've already read that. Sure, great fantasy for the most part, but the author is too focused on creating seven million minor characters and about as many plot lines, so the big picture ended up being lost on me most of the time. Especially if you're not keen on reading 10.000+ pages all in one sitting.

>> No.9706924

>>9706895
I didn't really have much trouble with that. There's this point maybe halfway through were it gets a bit confusing because some characters are given the focus for too long and some are forgotten, but once you get past that and all the plot threads come together and intersect again, it's brilliant.

The only criticism I have is that I didn't like Karsa Orlong nor the author's gigantic hard-on for him, but I guess it can't be helped.
