Started Saihate no IMA. I think I'm going along the first "route" or whatever since this girl gets much more scenes than others.
How long till the actual plot kicks in?

Also some speculation. The "blog interface" is going to be part of some big twist, right? Since Shinobu suddenly gets a headache when Sayaka mentions "links" (which is also highlighted like the other wiki type words).

>> No.9706459

No, they are just to enter in routes.
For example, choosing that place+the first time gets you in Azusa's route, skipping the first one and choosing a warm morning next gets you into Youko.
Beyond that, they become wiki entries/flashbacks.

If you're not already doing so, I'd suggest consulting a walkthrough for that game. Some routes use a combination of previous choices to determine which ending you get, and some of the necessary choices can go back a few chapters before the end of the game. It's important to keep certain save points if you're interested in seeing all of the endings.

All of the endings are radically different, too, so it's worth taking time to see them.

I'm already using a walkthrough for it so now worries there. Finished the first route (both endings), it was...shorter than I expected.
Gameplay isn't as refined as Sky's, for obvious reasons, and the story in the first route doesn't seem so well developed either. And having to change to 16bit colors to run it windowed is annoying.

I always wondered, for VNs rated 15+, exactly how far can the writers go? Obviously not anything straight out sexual, but can sex be "implied", like a fade to black etc.? I usually pass on anything that's not 18+ because the romance feels unsatisfying, but some of the CGs from Tokyo Babel seemed pretty cockteasey for example. I mean, as long as the characters can do more than hold hands and peck on the cheek then I'm fine, a lot of H-scenes are truly terrible anyway.

Just finished Kikokugai. Couple things: #1, wow, not the conclusion I was expecting from Urobutcher, to be honest. Not that I'm displeased. #2, why doesn't this get more love? For all of the flaws in execution, it's a very classical, House of Flying Daggers-esque love story wrapped up in sci-fi imagery. It's kinda like the anti-Planetarian in a lot of different ways. The concept was amusing, but it lost its charm when it tried to go serious. That and it got butchered before release.

Also, this old man... I'm frankly surprised by how many parodies etc are in this VN. The heroines are hnnnnnng as well, definitely one of the better Alcot games.

Still in the middle of it, and sort of putting it off for now as it feels like it could shift into full drama mode at any moment at the points I'm at and I don't feel like reading that during the week.
Only really care for two of the heroines who I've also found pretty adorable, probably not even going to bother with the rest of the game aside from those two routes from what I've read.
Game could've really used a longer common route, instead of the "Oh yeah, here's the other heroine that's available for now, have fun selecting your route!" that it did.

To give you an idea of how many different moves you can make, I've compiled a flowchart.

In the Makoto vs. Yuka tennis scene, the first choices you get are the following:

>Return crosscourt.

>Lob her.

This what you go through after choosing "Return crosscourt."

Red = viewed
Green = not viewed / don't remember viewing

Finished Shiho route: I feel it's quite simple even by the usual standard in vn in both scenario and writing and by the time the ending hits, it clearly tells you the story has another goal. I am just speculating if this plays out well, this goal should have substantial content; however if it's just a signpost as proportion of vn completed then it would be potential wasted.

The anime is bad and borderline nonsensical since it was made before the VNs were done. It's completely impossible to figure anything out by watching the anime since the people making the anime didn't know what parts of the VN were clues, so you'd basically just be watching it for LOL SO EPIC BEATO TROLLING.

The game isn't a friggin' masterpiece either, though. Umineko starts out really good but it gets a lot of criticism for the ending. It's definitely worth playing the VN if you think it sounds interesting, because it is still very good despite its flaws.

I realize this is kind of an obscure question, but I got handed down an Asus Ep121 today. I want to play eroge on this so I don't have to dedicate my desktop monitor to whatever I'm playing (I like my games full screen).

The specs are by default 2gb 1333 speed DDR3 SO-DIMM with an i5 running at 1.33ghz. After start up, win7 and some tablet programs take about 800mb of ram, with about 7-11% CPU and Intel HD Graphics. I can upgrade to a maximum of 4gb ram, but I'm stuck with the processor

Will I be able to run eroge made past 2011 on this? Mostly, I'm worried about stuff with lots of special effects or heavy usage of video memory.

I tried Dies Irae AF and MuvLuv Alt a moment ago without much of a hitch, if that's any basis of comparison.

Umineko, the game: Episode 1-4 is almost universally seen as great. Opinion on episode 5-8 is very much divided; I personally love it, but others seem to hate it. Ep1-4 is a great mystery with a twist, but 5-8 shift away from the mystery and focus more on fantasy drama, to the disappointment and ire of some. Like with Remember11, the entire story is awesome, but you'll be sorely disappointed if you wanted clear answers to everything. Things generally praised are its writing, story and especially its music (I personally consider it the best soundtrack ever); criticisms tend to focus on its lack of answers, its pacing, lack of character development for many characters (as the cast is pretty huge, growing with each episode) and the way it pushes the message it's trying to convey in 5-8. Opinion on the art is mixed; there's no CGs, backgrounds are filtered photographs and the sprites are of unimpressive technical quality; however, many feel that from an artistic perspective the sprites do convey emotions, character and the like far better than commercial art.

As for the anime, imagine a story with many good and memorable aspects. Great music, great atmosphere, great writing, awesome scenes. Then imagine an adaptation took the plot, and only the plot, and made something that completely omits everything else that's good about the story. The Umineko anime technically adapts everything perfectly, but it just feels soulless. Scenes that were mindblowing in the VN feel underwhelming in the anime, and as a whole the experience isn't anywhere close to the original experience.

Continued from >>9737375:

I strongly recommend AGAINST watching the anime before the VN, as it spoils the plot of 1-4 without giving as great an experience as the original VN would give. Especially episode 3 is a rollercoaster in the VN, but completely underwhelming in the anime. (Most notably the big ceremony becoming a small 'okay, congratulations' in an empty room was preposterous, considering how grand and monumental it was in the original.)

Finally done with Super Dangan Ronpa. A clear improvement over the first game in pretty much all areas, gameplay included. The final chapter was also quite strong and contained some fairly interesting dilemmas, though unfortunately the writers chickened out and ultimately refused to address them.
Seriously, the Kamukura issue was actually fascinating and it would have been interesting to see how they deal with a messed up genius psychopath in a world where his very existence poses a significant danger. But no, what we got instead was "hurr, just believe in yourself and your nakama" and then everything was sunshine and rainbows.

I finished about half of Love Split, the side of Elina.
Despite its look Love Split is actually quite a serious romance drama title
Well I won't post my full impressions yet but the design is pretty interesting, you get a questionaire at the very beginning of the game that determine which of the 2 heroines you pursue to start with.
And after that during the route you get the choice to choose another heroine (even though you are already dating the other one).
So there is 2 heroines and 4 routes.

For Elina her normal route can be summed up as BOWLING IS SERIOUS BUSINESS, but it wasn't too bad.
The relationship was developed quite well on a long period of times and the game itself has a pretty big cast of colorful characters.
The cheating route though was far more dramatic than I thought it would be, like White Album 2 lite.
In a way Love Split is closer to what you'd expect from a live action than from an eroge, especially when the pov switches to the heroine, so it's definitely not for everyone.

The ero though is quite good, you can feel the love of the writer for breasts.
