This, Twilight might as well be the otaku national anthem.

Also John Lennon was quoted saying that the Beatles would have probably ended up sounding like ELO if they had stay together.
And the influence of the Beatles was absolutely key in the development of Japanese pop music.

Sorry but the Japanese would not have anything out side of traditional folk music if it wasn't for western pop and rock. Beatlemania was especially heavy in Japan and even today if you spend some time in Tokyo you can still see how massively popular the Beatles still are. Virtually none of the music important to otaku culture would exist if wasn't for the development of rock and role, and subsequently pop.

Every thing goes back to the Blues which is derived from African-American work and spiritual music.

The closest The Beatles have ever gotten to being credited with the quintessences of Japanese pop music was when they made pastiche upon pastiche of the album Pet Sounds. If you've ever been to Japan recently, you'll quickly realize that The Beach Boys are much more popular than The Beatles. Why this is? I don't know. Maybe it has some to do with Yoko Ono marrying a gaijin. What I do know is that most J-pop from the 1980s were heavily based on Baroque pop and early 1960s Beach Boys productions. This is especially true for the Shibuya kei genre, and anything else you've heard with vocal harmonies. Why else do you think Surf rock has been so popular in Japan?
It also doesn't help that one of the Beach Boys collaborators are heavily involved in the Japan music scene, especially those around the Yellow Magic Orchestra.

I concede that I'v only looked the Beatles effect in other cultures, I have not done my homework.

Also the remark about the blues was more troll bait than any thing, it's true, but in the same way that the blues chronologically came before pop. Not really a useful argument.
