I found Miko hilarious in her racism and megalomania. It's also understandable to a degree; she comes from a time where youkai were dicks to humans, and she's only barely finished with the Gensokyo Orientation Weekend. Her opinion of youkai has been festering for ages, and not without good pre-Gensokyo reason.

Also Byakuren's a bigot too, she just isn't as open about it. Her response to being told that her disciples were giving humans shit was basically to ara ara~ about it.

This actually makes me wonder what the common threshold for internally justified murder is. It certainly seems like humanity in general will balk more at killing an animal for sustenance if that animal is intelligent. I know dog and cat consumption isn't unheard of, but it's far less common than, say, poultry consumption.

Maybe this is why humans feel like they have the moral ground to buck the food chain when it comes to being theoretical prey for youkai, given the animals they themselves prey upon.

Or maybe it's just a direct result of one of the defining traits of humanity being self-centered assholishness.
