All the time, I find it a lot of fun. The whole competitive battling thing is kind of fun too if you don't act like a total faggot and don't hang around with faggots.
If you're going to get back into it, I'd recommend playing Black/White 2 since it's a lot of fun and introduces the new Pokemon and all, but doesn't force them all on you at once like BW do. Or wait until Ruby/Sapphire get remakes.

I beat most of the game using three mons which are all very, very weak to ice. It's interesting to do a run where you don't use a varied team but bruteforce your way even with bad typing. Then again, leech seed is probably the biggest argument in a war of attrition, almost gamebreaking against NPCs...

Johto is such a small and forgettable region with hardly any new Pokemon (which... don't have all that much variety, really), and NEEDED Kanto just for something more to do. And that Kanto was just an empty sell compared to the original.
I honestly don't understand why it's considered a new generation, it should have been looped in with gen 1. Hell, it didn't even last that long, only three years. And it didn't even sell as many games as a whole as RSE did.

Can't we just agree that Pokemon is nothing more than a regular JRPG but with a slightly better battle system and a terrible story, so still pretty bad overall? I've played the series for years, but that's no reason for me to pretend it was ever good. Because it wasn't. Let's be honest. It's not even fun. I wouldn't say that they're all equal, no. Some of the games were clearly designed better than others, and some of them more fun. Of course, that's all opinion, but I definitely prefer some of the games over others. I can go back and replay RGB or RSE every week forever and never get bored of it, yet I haven't touched my copy of White since I put 80 hours into it the week it came out.

We had a nice thread about Pokemon a week or so ago.

Thank you to the Anons who recommended I read the manga. It's really good, and fits a lot more with the vibe I got from Pokemon as a kid.
