/jp/, I'm tired of one sided relationships. I am always the one putting tons of effort into friendships, making myself seem as interesting as possible by relating to their interests, asking them if they want to play something together (anything), providing them with material that we both enjoy, and even just asking how they have been. I reach out to them, but I always make sure never to overstep my boundaries or obsess over them, and try to match their energy level. I even went out of my way to find and make friends with someone who has almost exactly the same tastes and interests as I do, so I could be practically guaranteed a connection with them. But even that hasn't worked out nearly as well as I had hoped. I sometimes feel like I am just being a huge bother to people, or that they'd rather just be left alone completely, and it's just so depressing and makes me feel horribly insecure. I'm not one of those people that goes around and tries to befriend and talk to every damn person I see either. I focus on the relationships I have, and try to make something special out of it, so that they aren't just 'another' friend I barely care about, but rather a best friend. Sometimes, after reaching out to them for so long and getting very little response, I just want to run away from them just to see who follows, and more often than not nobody does. But it's so hard to do that now because I have almost nobody left. Why does mutual friendship have to be so hard?
