Quick question, /jp/.

For the sake of hurrying up my moonspeak progress, I joined a site where you exchange emails with a native speaker. Etc. etc. I started talking to this woman. Generally we send each other one email in moonspeak and the other in English, correcting each other. Her english emails are pretty hilarious, but I'm guessing my moonspeak ones aren't much better. Anyway.

I sent her a sentence saying "What kind of snacks do you eat?" (talking about a movie she watched, recently), as あ、私はおちゃとけいしょく（なにけいしょくか？）が好きます.

She replied, correcting me, with 私も、おちゃとけいしょく（おかし）が好きです。（あなたは、どんなおか
しを食べますか？）. She's saying that "snacks" is really おかし, right?

But Atlas translates it as "Oak."

.... It DOES mean "snacks," right?

あまり == adverb that means "not so". you have to use it with the negation of the predicate...

eg:
amari takakunaidesu. (takai+negation) -> "not so high"

You could rewrite it as "amari (ni) takakute, etc." which is "too high/expensive."

A quick search turns up an example sentence: あまりに高くてびっくりしました. "I was surprised at just how expensive it was," or, literally, "It was very expensive, so it surprised me."
Same sort of stuff shows up without the に.

this is weird. "nan no" or donna is better. also you're asking a question in the middle of your reply... or something. It's not very clear but the rest of the conversation might clarify.

I like tea and snacks (candy) too. What kind of candy do you eat (like)?
Keishoku is snacks (uses the kanji for light+meal)
but she's saying she likes candy as a snack.

I used to chat with native speaker myself, I used Atlas initially, but tends to be more confusing in the end. so they prefer that I type in english instead.
