I personally liked Summer Day's Dream much more than the first Memoires of Phantasm. The short PVs following their first episode were pretty crappy, nothing but fanservice and stale art. Summer Day's Dream had it's unique charm, and the PV released at Reitaisai 9 was spectacular.

Anyway, now that the thread's been totally derailed, let's have a discussion about what went wrong with the first one, what they can do to fix it, and whether or not it looks looks like they have, from the trailer.

I think their biggest problem was the total lack of directorial presence. The framing and camerawork was completely utilitarian, and the art direction felt rather bland with its palette and inexpressiveness. I think the art is slightly better in the trailer here, but the actual direction still feels really bland.

I liked Memories of Phantasm very much. I also found their omitting of voices in it to be very cute, it somehow maintained Touhou's original charm.

As of this point, the crossover anime is only shown at very private screening that are exclusive.
