/jp/ used to be filled with crap like people's bloggy bullshit stories threads about (supposedly, hopefully not really) molesting their siblings. That's your "old" /jp/, simply crap that didn't fly on /a/. And people kept posting it on /a/, too, they still do from time to time.

/jp/ was never good. As bad as it is, it's better now than it used to be. Just come in for your touhou thread fix or VN thread fix or whatever, and ignore the rest.
