Janitor applications are open again!

Now is your chance to become the new (new) NSJ!

Why haven't you applied yet?!

>> No.9527624

because there are people way more capable of doing a better work than me.

>> No.9527625

They're opening soon.

Learn to read.

>> No.9527626

Janitor applications are currently closed. There will be an announcement when they are re-opened.

>> No.9527641

Why?

English is not my first language.Life's cruel but it's ok,I'm sure there are people way more qualified than me.

>> No.9527636

I wouldn't delete anything even if I was a janitor.

>> No.9527645

Keeping in constant contact with the mods via IRC sounds like a pain.

>> No.9527658

/q/ - bitch & moan

Maaan, I guess /jp/ will be totally empty thanks to this.

>> No.9527673

If the first post on /q/ isn't "moot please delete /jp/" you all have failed me.

>> No.9527686 [DELETED]

>>9527673
if moot deletes /jp/ at least 10 anons will kill themselves. would you take responsibility

>> No.9527694

>>9527686
many more would die if we let /jp/ run for another 5 years

>> No.9527727

why ?

becaue i can only browse for about two hours before gettingboring

cant imagine expending all my day reading the nonsense you guys write

>> No.9527743

I was ready to until I read about the part of keeping in contact with mods.
Though I might change my mind.

>> No.9527748

Too much trouble. You almost have to write a resume.

>> No.9527755

I will probably apply, although I don't think I have much chance

I never got called back on an application anywhere

>> No.9527754

Not open yet.

>> No.9527756

>>9527616
>Now is your chance to become the new (new) NSJ!
You mean Meido. There won't be anymore NSJ.

>> No.9527762

Anyone worthy of monitoring /jp/ wouldn't be applying to be a janitor. moot requires them to be active, but who know what that means. A non-paying job.

>> No.9527772

I hope they don't hire anyone who actually browses and posts in the board every day. Since "otaku culture" is vague as fuck, they'd just delete anything they didn't like. /jp/ needs an outsider to watch over it.

>> No.9527774

>>9527772
Or we get specific rules.

>> No.9527785

>>9527772
Someone who doesn't browse /jp/ would delete everything.

It's a lose-lose situation.

Don't worry /jp/, I will do my best to be an elegant meido. I've moderated before. I love this place too dearly not to help.

>> No.9527805

/jp/ doesn't need active moderation
it has and always will be a user-moderated board
anybody that volunteers to moderate this board for any other reason than deleting blatant crossboard spam once in a blue moon is a power-tripping moron

toodles ~

>> No.9527810

>>9527805
That's why the board is in such a great taste and was so good at 2011. We were a self-moderated board. We need moderation now. You just want a board to shitpost about your random anime screencaps.

>> No.9527811

>>9527805
Tell that to the guy who posts his dick every day.

>> No.9527815

>>9527805
While I agree that lots of borderline content should be kept, "doesn't need active moderation" is too strong. Blatant threadshitting/derailing, blog posts, that kind of stuff needs to go.

>> No.9527823

>>9527811
>>9527810
people that want to shitpost will always shitpost and no amount of nazi moderation will change that
if the denizens of /jp/ really didn't want anime screencap threads and dicks on the front page those threads wouldn't be getting any bumps in the first place.

>> No.9527830

>>9527823
That’s an awful anarchist/libertarian argument that does not hold up.
If the denizens don’t want to be spudrospammed then there is nothing they can do about that.

>> No.9527837

>>9527823
That argument can be applied on literally every single board, yet we barely have moderation. If they have mods and janitors, so should we. End of story.

This is what's wrong with /jp/. You would let otaKOOLz and normal faggots moderate your board? the board that your refresh from the moment you wake up until you fall asleep? No,you baka there are no others more qualified than you.

Brain problems.

4chan mods seem like awful people and I would hate to have to converse with them on regular basis.

Also, I hate responsibility and I don't want /jp/ to become a job for me.

>> No.9527872

>>9527830
you seem to be under the assumption that spudro spam is perpetrated by one single person
its the denizens of /jp/ themselves that perpetrate the spam by taking part in it
fact is that the majority of /jp/ has either taken a liking to it or otherwise just doesn't give a fuck and if you do then you're in the minority

>> No.9527883

>>9527871
What if there are good mods that moderate smaller boards that are actually cool people? You know, generalizing is never a good thing.

>>9527872
That spurdo spam was a raid by yililauta. A collective raid. Just like when KoG would send /b/ to raid us.

Think about this for a minute.
What if one of the truNEET shut ins who spends every waking hour here gets the position?
What if he has his own personal, narrow interpretation of what "otaku culture" is?
What if he just deletes everything he doesn't like?

What the fuck are you gonna do?

> otaKOOLz and normal faggots

That's the thing. Those are only kinds of people who are so power-hungry enough to social engineer their way into making moot think they are `elite` /jp/ers.

A true /jp/er takes it easy. We don't want to commit to constantly being on a leash. It's probably not that demanding as I make it out to be, but it sure sounds like that in the application form.

that doesn't change anything i said
you don't see puddi still being posted, do you?

>> No.9527921

>>9527912
Except it does. Just because a few people posted on their spurdo threads doesn't mean that we actually think that Spurdo should be allowed. And spurdo is plain, stupid shitposting. You can argue about many threads that are supposedly off-topic, but raids are raids and retards that post spurdo shit and support them SHOULD be banned. ``board'' culture is not a valid excuse. It's 90% of the time shitposting. See /v/ and their "feels" threads.

>> No.9527921,1 [INTERNAL]

>>9527921
if /jp/ really didnt care for spudro there wouldnt be any more spudro threads, raid or not.
'shitposting' is entirely subjective and you can't moderate under the pretense of deleting shitposts when every post under the sun besides the fucking VNTS thread could be classified as a shitpost depending on the person behind the screen.
end of.

>> No.9527921,2 [INTERNAL]

>>9527921,1
That's not how it works. First of all, every moderator has the right to determine what is shitposting and what is not. You don't have rights on 4chan, because using 4chan is a privilege. Second, raids do not work like that. What you're saying is the same as saying that if we didn't like /b/ going to /jp/ to get dubs because KoG sent them is because we like dubs, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of us didn't like them at that time. Third, retarded shitposting is fucking obvious because it tends to have horrible grammar and a terrible and unfunny irony. Those are off-topic too. /jp/ is subjective to the global rules, but it still needs specific rules. It doesn't matter if the users want spurdo, it's still a retarded and off-topic shitposting that has NOTHING to do with otaku culture (there are many other threads that share that too but that's not the point here). This kind of shit should be bannable, but would bans really change /jp/? Some argue that it would, other that it wouldn't. But with a dedicated moderator, we would be able to finally set up policies for /jp/. I may agree with you that janitors won't really change /jp/, but only users, but moderators work in a different way. ASSUMING that we have a moderator that offer us the chance to discuss what should go on /jp/ and what shouldn't go, we maybe would be able to finally settle with what /jp/ should be about specifically. But on the other case, that might not happen, and then... It wouldn't end up well. And on a side note, take a look at the janitor orientations : they say that janitors shouldn't interpretate the rules. They are to follow the guidelines they are provided with. Problem is : What is and what is not acceptable on /jp/? That problem has only 3 solutions :
1 - Moot / Mods gives us a chance to make specific rules.
2 - Users lurk more
3 - We completely ignore that the board is suppsoed to be otaku culture and create retarded threads.

I really regret not adopting a name/tripcode earlier, I would have a better shot.
