Have you experienced the peace that comes from being a NEET yet, /jp/?

It seems like it takes a few years, but after a couple years of being alone all of the loneliness and depression just melts away and you're suddenly reborn like a butterfly emerging from his cocoon.

My computer no longer recognizes usb 2.0 drives, can't install the drivers correctly and wont even turn on via the power switch so I have to use a screwdriver to short the pins. Don't even have the money for a new one.
I can't take it easy like this.

The Awakening of the NEET

As you hear the song you can picture a depressed and suicidal NEET waking up one day and feeling the realization hit them as they are suddenly swept away in the peaceful bliss of the NEET awakening.

I experienced something like it for a few weeks while I wasn't technically a NEET. And I had about one week of the real thing.

Now I'm being heavily pushed into getting a job. Why can't I just take it easy?

Every time I think of getting a job I keep thinking of so many places to apply and the time I'd have to spend there and instantly turned off.
How do others manage it?

Enjoy each moment of being a NEET while you still can. These are the most precious moments of your life and you should savor each and everyone of them.

As it is with death, employment will also come for us all one day. All we can do is enjoy everything until that day comes.

>Why can't I just take it easy?

You can still take it easy even if you have a job. The Buddha's Simile of the Saw helped me a lot when I had to get a job.

>"Monks, even if bandits were to carve you up savagely, limb by limb, with a two-handled saw, he among you who let his heart get angered even at that would not be doing my bidding. Even then you should train yourselves: 'Our minds will be unaffected and we will say no evil words. We will remain sympathetic, with a mind of good will, and with no inner hate. We will keep pervading these people with an awareness imbued with good will and, beginning with them, we will keep pervading the all-encompassing world with an awareness imbued with good will — abundant, expansive, immeasurable, free from hostility, free from ill will.' That's how you should train yourselves."
>"Monks, if you attend constantly to this admonition on the simile of the saw, do you see any aspects of speech, slight or gross, that you could not endure?"

If the monks were capable of feeling calm, happy, and unaffected as they were carved apart then you can also feel these things during the torture of work.

A real world example of this is Thich Quang Duc. He burned himself to death in public and throughout the entire ordeal he sat calm and perfectly still until he eventually burned to death. If he can remain calm and at peace during such a thing then you can do the same during a job.

This is the sad truth for many of us.

But you don't have to employed forever. If you do it right, then working one year can get you enough money to take it easy for five years.

You can take it easy while doing anything. Take a look at zen Buddhism.

Most zen monks work for a large portion of the day. They don't actually have jobs, but they clean the monastery, sweep, and do things like that. You can do a form of meditation while doing anything, you just calm yourself down and focus entirely on the simple elements of the task at hand. For example, if you're sweeping then don't think about when you'll be finished, but completely focus on each and every sweeping motion as you carefully do your task.

When doing a task in this way then your mind will be at peace and you will not be occupied with anxieties, boredom, or thoughts of depression.

Spending long periods of time existing in this state of "now" (focusing your mind on what you are doing at this exact moment rather than thoughts regarding the past or future) will make you feel increasingly at peace with everything in your life.
