Just pirate Painter. It's the most realistic painting program as far as emulating real brush effects. Could easily paint along with Bob Ross

Try using the smudge tool for most everything instead of trying to draw things with the paint tool. It's more close to how oil painting works.

Note how he uses the Pint tool to get the colors and basic shape, then uses smudge to actually get it right.

Sometimes I'll look at some shitty deviantart picture and laugh, then I realise that my drawings look even worse. I have trouble drawing circles, let alone faces.

Well even if you are the worst at drawing you can always look at people on deviant art and remember that while you drawings are shitty, at least your concepts aren't....unless they are, but even then, it shouldn't matter as long as you enjoy it enough to keep doing it for fun.

I'm so fucking bad at painting. I tried to draw some image of a (real) girl I found on a Japanese stock image site, and it came out be a horrible mixture of 3D and 2D.
It was truly one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen.

Anything I try to draw just comes out as an indescribable blob or a horrible abomination. I have nothing saved right now, but just imagine the typical really shitty drawing and then imagine it looking worse.

It takes practice, I assume. I can't draw, but I write. It took my quite a while to do anything that I could read without cringing. I'm not good yet but I've improved. Practice seems important in all art. Punctuation still frustrates me. This is staccato as fugg.
