They fall into the same trap that all the companies people dislike operating in niche markets do: they assume that simply because they share a niche interest, they don't need to take a measure of what their audience wants. As someone mentioned, they're quite puritanical and censor things for no fucking reason (censoring bare shoulders, what the fuck). They don't really want to know whether people would prefer a translation that's liberal to the point of being a rewrite, they just do it that way and pass it off as a translation. They think this is what everyone wants, because it's what they want, and in a smaller community it's easy to put your blinders on and assume that the entire community wants the same thing. The only thing that actively irritates me, because I understand why they're being retards about that side, is that they get defensive and territorial whenever anyone tries to share input with them. In short, they need to learn business 101: bring something I want to marketplace and I'll buy it - bring something that YOU want to marketplace, and hope you get lucky and enough people buy it for you to break even.

/jp/ was mildly interested in carpe fulgur games before they were picked to be translated. there were threads on recettear shipping with no DRM before the demo came out and exploded on /a/ and /v/, and people were interested. but once it got popular on other boards, discussion on /jp/ was immediately shitposted upon. most people probably played it anyway, and posted on /a/ at the time, but then come here and pretend they never did any of that.

The games themselves are... decent. With the exception of Recettear, the games have been kinda stupid and riding on the cute anime girl angle instead of having actual engaging gameplay. But they're playable at least.
