There are two types of /jp/sies I've noticed outside of /jp/

The first type is the ones you'll find in the IRC. They are retarded. I don't even know why the channel has /jp/ in the name because it may as well be /a/b/v/. I lurked there for maybe 2 hours one day and it was constant bullshit like ">implying" and "that feel" used unironically. They also were talking about normalfag shit like college the entire time. Wow.

The second type is the polar opposite, an actual autist. I got to know a /jp/sie like this outside of the board and he was frighteningly autistic. As in, actually scary. We emailed sometimes and if I didn't reply within 15 minutes he actually spammed "please respond" and sent pictures he thought were funny. What the fuck. I actually had to close my email account out of fear.

Lurkers don't come under either type and they are /jp/ master race

It sounds excessive but bear in mind I am not exaggerating
Even when our email conversation seemed to have ended, 15 mins later I would get another email
"please respond"
If I didn't reply, 5 mins later
"please respond"
The time between not replying and getting this email just got shorter
Then he started sending all those "there's no replies..." pics as attachments, and youtube video links whilst saying "Do you like this video?" WITH THE SAME VIDEO ABOUT 20 TIMES
That was just the tip of the iceberg as well... orz I was concerned, for him also but for myself I had to leave.

Also I love Mikudayo

you do realize #/jp/ always has and probably always will be run by and visited by people who are primarily from /a/ and /v/ right? There are many, actually /jp/ like irc channels, some shitposter like, some not, some with just crazy people in it, but they are for you to find, not us to tell you. Finding or being invited to a channel (or more specifically secret/private channels) is just part of the adventure on irc.

Posting on /jp/. It's not the same thing as real-time chat. At any point I could leave this thread, ignore you, stop posting altogether and no one would notice. There is a huge degree of control on my part compared with IRC. It's like text messages vs. phone calls

Also, the draw of /jp/ is messing around with Touhou and stuff, as well as VN news. Compare that to IRC where at the end of the day the whole point is purely to talk to other people. Normalfaggy.

The fact that we're anonymous means the focus is on those interests, rather than the posters. I come to /jp/ for Touhou, not for /jp/sies. Understand? IRC is different because everyone knows each other on a name basis, which is how the drama and cliques start.

To me it seems you're just scared to back your opinions up. I've met two people already that I got to know pretty well through IRC (although that isn't relevant to the point) that added me on an IM program and talked to me for quite some time, then deleted me and randomly vanished off "the internet". Seems to be a popular phenomenon among insecure people. And I really used to like both of them.

I mean you can't back your opinions up in an actual discussion. You would rather just close the tab or stop responding because you're "anonymous". You couldn't really do that on an IRC channel (unless you just leave it forever) because everyone has a name there.

And I don't have any friends in real life - let me at least have some on the internet. It must be suffering to have neither of those.

That's part of the fun though. Plus, if anons passionately believe their opinions to be true then I'm sure they will continue trying to back them up until there's no way left, in which case the argument should end anyway. No? If you just leave a thread without backing up your opinions you probably didn't hold them very strongly anyway.

>It must be suffering to have neither of those.

OK, I kind of understand, although it isn't always really... some people enjoying being alone. /jp/ fulfills my social drive, I used to have real friends and it became very tiring. Being able to switch the socialising button on and off at will is much better.

That's exactly what I've said. /jp/ is little more than a big chat with images with people that share your interests. IRC is very much the same but with text only. It's not like you have to constantly post there. If you want to be alone, just close the window and there you go.

>you can't back your opinions up in an actual discussion. You would rather just close the tab or stop responding because you're "anonymous".
But this is the exact kind of thinking that Anonymous posting is meant to prevent! The idea is that you DON'T have to back up your opinions; if they are powerful enough to stand on their own, they will do so, and if they are not, they will fall. It's that simple. What is being said is what's important, and it no longer matters who's doing the saying. Maybe I'm a hikki who's never been outside for the past half year, but I want to comment about something that happened at an IRL event. Or on the other hand, maybe I'm a normalfag who's fucked many bitches, but I have something meaningful to say about hikki lifestyle. Either way, I can do so, and nobody will know any better. I probably wouldn't have the ability to back the opinion up in a sustained debate, but it doesn't make the original post any less valid. Maybe someone else will pick up the argument halfway through, and nobody else will even know that the person typing isn't the original arguer.

That's what makes Anon posting better than IRC, and if you don't understand that then you'll probably never get the most out of 4chan.

>That's what makes Anon posting better than IRC, and if you don't understand that then you'll probably never get the most out of 4chan.
And "the most out of 4chan" means hiding behind anonymity? I guess that's one way to see it.

In any case this argument is pointless since people have different views of things.

>> No.9442637

>hiding behind anonymity?

If you see anonymity as "hiding" what are you doing on 4chan? I will never understand people who come to this site only to criticise the main feature that distinguishes it from everywhere else. Why not just go "everywhere else"?

Not everything is black or white. Anonymity has benefits and things that make it awful. Just because I dislike one part of it, doesn't mean I dislike it as a whole or don't enjoy other parts of it.
