Why is it only acceptable to make anime thread here if they're really shitty/low-effort (usually a picture from an anime alongside a “humorous” quip?)

I might be wrong, but I thought “otaku” meant “someone very interested in Japanese games and media.” Isn't anime a Japanese media?

I undestand that there's a board for anime, too, but why does that have to disqualify us from talking about it? Maybe we don't want to talk about anime with those guys.

>> No.9432989

Because then "those guys" see we're talking about it and then run all over here to spew their opinions all over the board.

>This is Touhou/Visual Novels/Doujin Games.

>If you want to discuss anime and manga, go to /a/ (some series that are based on light novels/VNs/games
like Marimite and Higurashi can also be discussed in /jp/, it really depends, so lurk a bit to see what's acceptable).

Yeah. That's how people get to /jp/. They go through the various boards learning more and more culture. Why is this a bad thing? More new users is more new users, short term, but long-term it's more good users.

I wish /jp/ was named Touhou/Visual Novels general so that such misunderstandings could be avoided

>tea threads to /ck/

I stopped reading right there. I've tried doing tea threads before on /ck/ and let me tell you, it does not work. The majority of responses are people who are accustomed to pop and pre-bottled teas wondering why their brewed tea tastes "like ass", or people trying to troll by saying coffee is better, pop is better, ect. The threads here have always stayed on topic and people discuss tea. In the thread here, there is no criticism against the people who drink tea. In /ck/ they get angry when you talk about teaware and preperation techniques. Also, there's a high chance that if it's a recurring thread, even if it's on-topic, the people who do not drink tea/cannot cook/want to discuss fastfood will not leave it alone. Take a look at the thread where people posts pictures of their meals. There are hundreds of posts in there simply telling the OP and people posting to fuck off. Those responses are deleted endlessly, yet they still show up occasionally. A recurring tea thread would be very similar to that.

>> No.9434368

>>9434352
Doesn't mean that it doesn't belong there. The point is, there is a board for pretty much every content that is posted here so complaining about things not belonging here is stupid because then you pretty much have to delete this board.

>> No.9434375

>>9434368
Oh and I forgot to add. Take this thread for example, it belongs on /img/ yet board discussion threads are made every hour.

>> No.9434380

>>9434368
I understand what you're saying, but you need to also understand that between the two boards, with tea threads being on-topic to both, I will post them here almost all the time than to subject myself to being degraded by some people who think that drinking tea is gay and will not leave your threads alone.

Some things are here for a reason. Figurines are here because /toy/ threw a fit against them when the board was created.

I like how people assume if we talk about anime, then people from /a/ will come in and make the board shittier. Do they not realize that /jp/ is already absurdly shitty as it is?

This image contains a number of inconsistencies. I did not think deer were capable of appreciating music, or emoting in a reactive manner ("head banging?") to it. This may signify a higher quotient of intelligence in deer than the scientific world had previously imagined. Previously, deer have not been thought intelligent enough to understand or derive pleasure from music:

http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/amp/53/10/1125/
http://psycnet.apa.org/psycinfo/2008-01980-000
http://psycnet.apa.org/psycinfo/1946-02683-001

Aside from this, Tsukasa does not appear to be having a very good time. She appears to be head banging in an appreciative manner to the music, but she is also crying. This may have to do with her pants being gone. Extreme discomfort such as cold (such as that caused by lack of pants) can cause emotional responses like crying in humans. I think for these reasons that something far more sinister is happening: the deer may have had its foal killed, by hunters or predatory animals or some other external source, and it is attempting to aggressively mother Tsukasa. I think that the deer is trapping Tsukasa in place to prevent her from escaping. Her pants may have become lost in the scuffle. The rocking motion may be a sort of hypnotic dance, to lull her into submission.

Exactly, I agree. And the whole "This board is for content that doesn't belong on other board" doesn't even apply anymore because fig threads are made on /a/ and I heard even /v/ started having them. Does that mean we should stop having fig threads since that content is now shared among different boards? I just don't understand how you can moderate this board. Moot should have made it more clear what he meant by otaku culture. But he doesn't care anymore, he is too busy having /fit/ meetups now that he is over with his jap phase.
