If you don't have the cash, the least you could do is tidy things up and organize all of your stuff. That's all I could really tell you if you have a low budget. Though, when you get the cash, try getting an actual bed, and maybe a desk to place that television set on.

It wouldn't hurt to cover that outlet up with the wire coming out of it, y'know, to conceal that big black hole in the wall.

The first thing I was able to read without constantly checking a dictionary was Haganai, actually. This was in summer 2011. Video games are great, too. There's going to be a lot of rough patches before you can really get rolling, in my opinion. Just stick it out.

I started with oreimo, but the other guy is right about haganai. They both have fairly self-contained chapters, so you aren't as likely to get discouraged as you would with something that has a more contiguous story. I thought the early volumes of oreimo did a pretty good job of having episodic chapters while maintaining a "central" story for each one.

Kino no Tabi is fairly easy to read, but I find that I read it more slowly for some reason.

Bungaku Shoujo was also surprisingly easy, though I'd still recommend having a dictionary around.

By "structure" I just meant the way the chapters jump around between characters other than Kirino and Kuroneko. In 1-8 it felt like those chapters were sidestreets, but they comprise most of 9 and 10.

I got my desk area sorted out a little bit ago. I'm sorta proud of my BD display solution. It seemed like such a waste for them to just sit on a shelf when the cover art is so nice. I'm probably going to have to add another picture ledge soon since I started buying Tsuritama. Though, I guess I could always rotate what I've got up now.

That's why I held off buying an Intuos for years -- I only draw a handful of times a month (sometimes less) so I figured it would be a waste. Now that I have one I realize it's worth it, because it makes what little drawing I do that much more pleasant. I assume it's the same for your cintiq, so don't bother feeling too guilty.

Well, around the time I got it I'd been drawing a lot, but ever since then (not related to the tablet though) I've been in sort of a slump. Yeah, something like that happened to me too. I even got pretty extreme about it and attempted to give up drawing altogether, on the grounds that the world didn't need more shitty art. Then I realized that I'm incapable of stopping - imagery just pops into my head sometimes and itches away until I do my best to draw it out. I solved the moral dilemma by thinking about how much other artists complain about their art, and how much their art makes my life better - if they stopped because they thought they were shitty... well that would suck.. Since there are at least two people who genuinely get excited about things I produce, I figure it is not morally reprehensible to continue production. Doesn't mean I'm any less frustrated when I'm actually drawing, but I do feel less morally conflicted about it these days.

It's pretty hard to describe the lighting, but it's quite nice and easy to rest. Also the blue lights behind the TV and in the shelves can change colour so you can change it to taste.

Well, that may be true for some (although not I), you have to admit that figures only got nice in the mid-00s. Before that all you had was cheap plastic shit, gachapon, and garage kits that you had to paint yourself.

Not at all, there were a lot of pre-painted garage kits, in fact back in the late 90s early 2000s there was a site called rosebud something which imported Garage Kits cheaper than you can buy mass-produced figures now, and they were available straight after doujin events.

Figures now don't have much detail on the face at all, they just put a small lump on the nose and spray on the features. I guess that's what happens after the 'otaku boom' cheap shit churned out for double the price. I haven't seen anything by Bome in ages and his website is down, he's probably spinning in his grave. I used to like his write-ups about the figures he made on the packaging and how he got into the series etc. Now it's just 'goods'.
