They are one of the best selling companies dvd wise because some of their talent gets idol like exposure right now. Which is exactly the reason the company gets a lot of flag from wrestling purists saying its one of the weakest joshi feds right now. I dont get enough joshi shows per year to have a educated opinion about that but some of my friends are almost religious joshi maniacs and generally theyre not big stardom fans :\

joshi as a whole is alot weaker than back in the days. And I wouldn't say that Stardom is really weaker in-ring wise compared to the other current promotions from what I've seen. I'd rate Ice Ribbon lower than them and some of the other Promotions are only better because they still have veterans from the 90's hanging around. And Stardom certainly isn't the first Promotion going the idol route, even AJW did it back in the day with some of their Wrestlers (pic related). Nowadays there are internet darlings like Kurihara and Kana doing gravure stuff, so Stardom isn't the only "offender".
