When do you do your reps?

Do you do them at the start of the day when you first wake up?

I do all of the unpleasant things immediately after waking up and having a short breakfast.

1. Food. The mind is only as powerful as the fuel that you put in your body.
2. Yoga. Yoga calms the spirit, focuses the mind, and realigns the chakras.
3. Japanese studies. I do my reps and I get them done.
4. One hour of exercise on the indoor bicycle. Health and exercise is important.
5. Shower. During this time I also meditate under the relaxing fall of the water and I work on creating my tulpa.

After these five steps have been completed I am free to do anything I want.

How do I do kana reps?

Everyone is always talking about kanji, but I still haven't started kana. Do I just use anki or do I need to do something else first?

>> No.9376109

Very late at night, a few minutes before the Anki day timer resets.

Wouldnt working on tulpa with external forces (water hitting you) be distracting?

>> No.9376128

So what happens when you've memorized all of this?

It's not like you actually know what you're reading. Isn't it like spending years learning how to phonetically pronounce English words and having absolutely no understanding whatsoever of what any of it means?

I do my reps (kanji production so I don't become ワープロ馬鹿 and vocabulary)
when I wake up, but often I don't get dressed or get anything else done at all till mid afternoon.

Lately I hardly get anything done at all really. Luckily I learnt Japanese in a period when I was actually motivated and hard working.

>Wouldnt working on tulpa with external forces (water hitting you) be distracting?

Personally I find it to be very relaxing. The feeling of water hitting my head and my back is very relaxing and the sound of the shower is relaxing. I find it difficult to meditate outside of the shower actually, something about the complete silence is unnerving.

But I do learn what I'm reading. That's the point of it.

Maybe the water blocks out all other distractions.

Aren't you only learning sounds though? I've only learned hiragana so maybe kanji is much different, but I all I ever learned was sounds. I can read hiragana characters but I don't actually know what I'm saying.

I say that I will do my reps, but I don't and then the day is over. I feel depressed and worthless.

This should make learning and practicing kana a breeze. Put on some music and get down to business.

How do I develop discipline?

>> No.9376382

I tried learning vocabulary without learning kanji, and basically if you had given me two words like 午前 and 午後, I would just see "squiggle squiggle" in both cases. I would mix these two up for ages before I actually learned the meaning of the kanji 午, 前 and 後. Then suddenly they became meaningful characters rather than just a sequence of squiggles, and it's a piece of cake.

Also, before learning any kanji, I tried reading manga and looking up words as I went, but that's reaallly slow and difficult if you need to look every single kanji up by radical. Now that I know the on'yomi of a lot of kanji, I can figure out how to sound out and type a lot of words, or otherwise just work it out quickly enough with the IME into a dictionary.

So, I still barely know any Japanese, but now that i'm almost done with Kanjidamage I feel like I can actually start to learn vocabulary with a chance at retaining it.
