What was the last mind blowing film you watched /jp/?

For me it was Donnie Darko. The movie by itself doesn't make too much sense (at least the original edition) but when you read the explanations / watch the director's cut it gets mind blowing

I don't watch "films" because I'm not a pretentious shit.

It's been almost a year since I last saw a movie.
My attention span is not great enough...

The machinist, maybe?
It's good, either way.

Inland Empire. I can't imagine it would have quite the same effect outside the theatre though.

Nothing has ``blown my mind,'' but Vanilla Sky was really confusing. Good though.

Confusing like "Alice in Wonderland confusing" (if you don't take into account the social connotations blah blah blah) / Yume Nikki confusing
or confusing like a good mystery with a good explanation?

Well, confusing like there's a really good twist, but you're not informed of how it worked. There's hints though.

"Mind blowing", eh?
Sounds like another film I'm never watching. I didn't watch Inception because of the obnoxious reception it got.
Some guy can enter dreams, how 'intellectual' and 'mind blowing'. Fuck that.

>> No.9374380

it have to be "Marquis".

For me I think it was a movie I watched in a bus trip last year, I don't know it's name though.
It was about a dude who had to travel back in time and try to find a bomb inside a bus, then find the person who planted it. Every time the bomb exploded, he had to go like 10 minutes back in time and try again.
I've always been fascinated by that concept, where the main character has to repeat the same short time period many times and change things, which is why I liked things like Madoka or Majora's Mask so much.

but the movie is actually good.
Why would you care what others say or think about it ?
Watch it and see if you will like it or not.

If others think it is 'deep', I imagine it will be stupid.
Seriously, time travel and entering dreams? Anything is liable to be 'deep' if it makes no fucking sense and is impossible in reality, leading to convoluted and shitty explanations of how it 'works', which of course it wouldn't.
But yeah, maybe I'll give it a watch.

Well the movie has some plot wholes , but I would say its still worth to watch.

If you worry you are wasting your time with the movie , just watch it when you are bored or tired and you have nothing better to do.

I did even watch twilight , its not even that bad movie, its more the fans who make the movie so awful.Ofc Twilight isn't a master piece , but its not a bad movie to kill time and shouldn't be taken serious like the fans do.

Dude Donnie Darko seems pretty shit to me. I wonder if that would really make it mind blowing.

I last watched ~No Country for Old Men~

>> No.9374555

I watched Mothman Prophecies a few days ago, it was pretty cool. Before that, I watched The Seventh Seal and Clockwork Orange. I also liked watching movies by Jean-Luc Godard. Netflix took some of them off streaming though, which is pretty lame. I watched quite a few already, but I still would have liked to rewatch them, like Pierrot Le Fou and Tout va Bien.

That one could have been the greatest movie of all time with a little more restraint and editing. I loved it, but most of the people in the theatre were revolted. The strobing was a lil obnoxious, and it could have done without the terrible birth cgi. Opening sequence was a masterpiece though, -getting high, trying to sober up and the police bust were friggin incredible. The love hotel sequence too was worth the price of admission.
