I gave up on my NEET life and got a job at a call center. The first strange thing I noticed, is that I was the only male in a team of over a dozen women.

A little over a month ago, I was finished with a call, and the customer (a man in his 50s) said "bye sweetie", he had been calling me Miss during the entire conversation. Today, another customer said "kisses!" instead of "bye" and made some weird sounds with his mouth. I was fucking creeped out.

Last week I got my 2nd pay rise, I'm now earning almost twice as much as my original salary. My boss is making me work extra hours every week.

One time I went for a basic admin desk job.

Jesus christ it was boring, I got offered cups of coffee constantly and listened to the women there talk about their yogurt. There was also a gay dude there and the girls constantly hassled him about his date with Jeremy in accounting. He himself didn't actually seem too happy to be there either.

All I did was fix basic problems with excel (Grid lines not showing up etc.) and shuffle paperwork away.

Before you say "That sounds good" let me tell you that even as a lazy person who would rather be a NEET, if you get a job make sure it is something that keeps you occupied and not clockwatching constantly.

Having a job feels like a waste of time compared to being NEET, don't make it worse by picking something that makes you very aware of the time you are wasting, that's my employment advice. I took basic IT helpdesk stuff just so I could at least wrap my brain around something while I earn these silly bits of paper.

It's tiring. here are some tips

-if a customer bitches, just tell them you'll pass the message to the people in charge, even if you don't have the authority to do so. It will calm them down. the human resources dept. doesn't care when you lie.
-in ideal conditions, phone operators are expected to make 10 calls per hour. 1 every 6 minutes. each call is supposed to last 3 minutes at most, and you use the other 3 minutes to log the call (you have to write down a summary of what happened)
-instead of logging the call AFTER you hang up, try logging it WHILE you're talking. It's not too difficult. Sometimes you can even finish logging it before the customer picks up. This saves up 30 minutes per hour. No, you can't rush and make 10 calls in 30 minutes, and then do nothing for the next 30 minutes, because Human Resources will notice a large gap in your logs and complain. It's better to take those 30 minutes off in short intervals. I use this time to read manga, i keep a online reader open in a separate window. Just as a precaution, I don't read any H stuff or browse 4chan.
-to make logging easier, just keep a notepad file open in the background with stock phrases and then just copy and paste them.
-human resources calculates the % of failed calls (when the customer doesn't respond, or hangs up on you) and if it goes above a certain threshold, they will bitch. I don't know what this threshold is. so, try to make as many calls as possible during rush hour, then make less calls during slow hours, when no one will pick up. This will keep the percentage low.
-there is no reward for getting a perfect score in the monthly evaluations

This is somewhat related to the thread, and I don't want to make a new topic, so I'll ask in this one.

How the fuck do you get a decent job? I've been a living in my moms house since High school. Never went to college or uni because I'm broke, and my mom doesn't have the money either. I've never had a job before either, because I haven't needed one, but now the prick my mom is dating wants me out of the house, and neither of them will pay for an apartment. So I need a job, and the only ones that I can find are cashier and waiter jobs, because everything else wants college experience or __ ammount of years doing the job, and possibly a driver's license, which I haven't bothered to get.

I'd be fine with a waiter/cashier job, but I'm not so good with people, and I can't stand on my feet very long right now thanks to a shin splint I got walking my dogs. So what kind of desk jobs can I get that don't require something stupid like 2 years previous experience and for me to be super social? I know a lot of them want you to be good with excel and office and whatnot, but I havent used that shit since school, though I'm sure I could learn.
