ITT, things we like about Japan.

I really like Japanese wolves. Wolves are considered gods in Japan. In shinto, one of the most important god is a wolf. Wolves are extinct in Japan, seeing one means great luck! Back in Old Japan, people would pray to the wolf gods, so that they(the wolves) would come and kill the animals eating their crops. Wolves were also breed by Shinto priests to rent out to farmers, After the 1905(the year wolves became extinct) The fox became the sole hunter of small animals (rabbits and such), but it was not enough, rabbits infested many japanese forests. Many japanese people are considering to bring Wolves from other asian country to reduce this problem. That is all, now that you know how important the wolf is in Japanese culture, whenever you see one, wish it good luck.

The second season was shitty enough. The books get really dull after the cookie debacle too so there's not a lot of good material. This is one of the worst light novels to convert to anime since there's so much internal dialogue and subtlety which you can't convey with a cartoon.

There's also this Evangelion-esque thing where sexual tension and playfulness and novelty wear off at some point, so the later books become pretty much devoid of any colorful interaction between Holo and Lawrence and instead become focused on philosophical issues and symbolism and etc.

There's very little exposition too. Everything returns to the fanfictiony status quo of Holo and Lawrence being on the run, from one powerful force or another. I'll go ahead and spoil it for you since it's really anticlimactic and boring anyway: when they get to Yoitsu, Holo's kin all hate her for 'abandoning' them (she didn't, she explains this, they ignore her - pretty much forced villainry) during the ursine attack. They try to kill Holo and Lawrence and they're forced to flee. From there on out, it's a bunch of economical schemes where Lawrence skates the edge of morality to reap a bigger profit. It's supposed to make the reader question whether commerce is evil/manipulative or not, but it actually just drains the books of every last drop of personality and fun.

I get that this is kopipe, but oh god this. I don't know if all light novels are like that but I find it unbearable. I need narration, I don't like wading through anime scripts and I don't know how anyone can find that enjoyable.

I originally bought the first novel in a manga store, then stocked up on the next 4 at Book Off since they were going for only 105円 each, but I think I'll never get round to reading them all. I kind of stopped at page 150 or so of the first one, despite pushing myself to continue.
