Everything in modern society pushes a homogenized image of masculinity or femininity upon the individual. I don't claim to know how it happens, but some people simply exist against the status quo. They are one sex, but they feel like another gender (e.g. They are male, but they feel feminine).

To say, I am male/female leads to confusion. What they mean is that they identify with that gender or role, not that they are physically that. Your example makes little sense because "tiger" is not an established social construct.

Does /jp/ actually care about things like gender and sexual orientation? As social outcasts I had believed that these things were irrelevant to you.

These things only matter if you communicate with other people and have a social life. A person with no friends that lives in solitude does not care about their gender or whatever they're attracted to. Males are only labeled as males because females exist and you need to make some sort of distinction to separate the two groups, but if you live a life of solitude and communicate with no one then there's no point in labeling yourself as a man or a woman.

Let these people identify however they want. Maybe in the future we'll have no concept of gender, or we'll go back to only seeing people as physical sexes--including all the biological/psychological norms that go with that--but without stereotyping people based on what genitals they have. Until then, we have a lot of bitching to do.
