Now that MangaGamer is going all-nukige and JAST takes ages to even release titles that have already been fan translated, how does /jp/ see the future of official VN localization?

That's an OELVN, not a localized game.

(Speaking of which, I think it's kind of scary how 'VNs' are growing increasingly popular in the indie community and OELVNs are used as a baseline for quality.)

Exactly as you described.

Ef is not a nukige.

>> No.9357834

I feel that companies should focus on targeting the OELVN losers and pump out some shitty game to get all their doe instead of translating games almost everyone has read or SUPA SHITTY obscure games.

Like Go go nippon? Did it sell well?

>> No.9357847

It bothers me how many people still naively believe that MG is now selling nukige so they'll have money to license bigger plot games. Their sales are better than ever, and they're going all-nukige. If those nukige are a success, they're not going to turn around and go 'hey, now we're making money, so let's release plot games again!', they'll just keep out churning nukige like JAST has always done whenever there was no competition. There is just more money to be made that way. MG has simply stopped caring about plot games.

You'll never have Kara no Shoujo 2 nor Cartagra translated ;___;

Cartagra IS translated. But it will never be released.

The translation is probably terrible anyway.

KnS-level, it probably lacks editing.

It was translated by same guy that did Kara no Shoujo after he was finished with that one.

It's all going to be Otome games on PSP.

Rather, the important bit there is that Aksys wants in on it too apparently

So let's all buy their otomege so they translate more handheld galge

Anyone who has played galge on a handheld knows it's the best format for the genre

I think you guys are just generalizing.

Look at it this way. MG is still looking for business partners that actually want to sell in the West. They've probably talked to some companies that would be popular among the 2 DEEP community as was the case with Innocent Grey and somewhat minori (It really might be more of the case of existing translations already and seeing a free opportunity for earnings but I digress). But still, probably other companies are skeptic about the western market.

Now this was all speculation. But the companies that have approached MG lately, mainly Hobibox and Softhouse-Seal, release nukige as their main lines of games in Japan themselves. I think MG just wants to nurture the relationship by releasing their games in a prompt manner, obviously.

I don't really know, but that's how I see it. Maybe I am being too optimistic.

>> No.9358011

I would be entirely fine with all the nukige if any of it was any good.

I don't, but nothing wrong with checking out the industry in the west, which is how I began reading anyways.
