I tried to do the 1.4 update and somehow fucked it up. I completely started over and am about to patch it back up to 1.3. I looked at the pastebin and didn't see anything about installing the patches.

I got 1.3 working but how am I suppose to install 1.4?

You don't need the patch 1.3.
1.4 already includes all the previous revisions.
Download it with OP's link and run MBAACC107ReleaseRev140.exe to patch your MB directory, then copy MBAA.exe (the crack) in it and overwrite the old file.
About the keyboard config/possible issues, I have no idea. I don't play fighting games with a keyboard because that would be like shooting myself in the foot. If you don't have money for an arcade stick, just use a console pad (PS3/Xbox360 ones don't need adapters) or buy a cheap logitech pad for PC.

Thanks, I seriously missed the ReleaseRev140 in the zip folder, I must be going senile.

I have pads, but my performance is insanely poor with them. Maybe a fighting stick, but I feel at ease with my keyboard until I can shell out 100+ for a novelty item I'd be using for MB only.

There are 2 problems that you really have to fix in your gameplay now :
- You're dropping most of your relaunch combos after an aerial counterhit (easy to work on in practice mode, just set the dummy on jump with counterhit enabled)
- Your blockstrings aren't menacing enough, especially for WLen. But it takes some time to really improve that.

But your neutral game is so much better now. You were all passive before and I could jump on you all day. Now I have to actually make efforts to hit you / apply pressure.

No. I meant when you're guarding against mixups / blockstrings, or in neutral game. You see a lot of players that crack under pressure or mash their buttons randomly when their patience has ran out. You're not doing that, or at least rarely.
