She's not an anime character, though. Nor is she a manga character. Characters like Saten (manga) or Homu (anime) are. Mirai has appeared in both anime and manga but she didn't originate there.

Saten originated in the manga To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, though. Of course, she made a few cameo appearances in the parent light novel series, and I think there was a Railgun light novel distributed with one of the DVDs.
