How do I even live a proper life? When you're in your 20s, don't know how to drive, have no job, no money, are unkempt, can't act normal.

How is a NEET like me even supposed to get a job, let alone make something out of myself?

I guess its just shitpost on /jp/ until my parents die and then kill myself.

What you have to do to fully learn how to drive and take away your fear is to find an expressway or a highway and drive on it. Once you hit 60 or 75 with someone beside you for a good hour or two then consider yourself cured. Most of us live in America, where there is only public transportation in cities, and trains/subways only in large metropolitan areas. Keep in mind how sparsely populated certain areas of the country are. You have to have a car to get anywhere in many rural areas.

>> No.9208460

>>9208438
In large cities you don't usually need one most have some kind of transportation. If you live in the suburbs you very likely will though. Good news is the farther away you are from the cities the less traffic you'll encounter. In some places you'll drive for miles and not see another car.

>> No.9208462

Cars are a huge hassle.
The test is a pain, but manageable I guess.
Driving is a chore, you have to actually pay attention to the world around you, without being safely inside your room.
Monthly expenses like gas and insurance add up.
Additional fees for maintenance, and replacing things when some asshole hits your door at 50 in the middle of the night can easily eat up your savings.
You have to keep an eye on your lights, brakes, and other things to make sure you are street legal before going anywhere.
It's a target for robbery, and one more thing you have to be responsible for.
For a NEET living on autism bucks, you probably live in an apartment, which means you have no garage, which means you're parking in the street or parking lot. This makes you a target for robbery, easier for people to wreck your car after a night of drinking, and you have to go out and move it every few days or someone will have it towed.

All this just to save a few bucks by being able to go to the store yourself?

No thank you.

Like most people, I live in a place where I don't need a car. How can you be a NEET if you have to pay for gas and drive everywhere? How much is gas these days? It's not difficult. I wonder how many of you even live like this. I'm sure I get called an autismlord more often than any of you and I do just fine.
How any of you can spend months just watching shitty anime is beyond me. I need to be learning something in my free time. Most of it is spent reading about world history on wikipedia or learning a language or programming. How can you just sit still? Even if you are sitting still, that time would be spend in deep thought which is beneficial for being a well rounded person.

You don't need to drive, use public transportation, looking good is easy since there are so many fashion standards that being rough around the edges is fine, and acting normal is also easy, just look at what other people do and emulate them.
It's like you guys are retarded.

I can't understand some of the fantasies many of you have either, of just lazing around all day. I enjoy being happy, but I also feel the same way about being angry or sad. There have always been two types of NEET. One seems genuinely happy and content living a life with a dim future and minimal social interactions.

The other is pretty much the opposite in that they long first and foremost for social interaction. Most everything in their life is governed by their desire for interaction. Following that they would like a promising future, which usually means worrying about entering schooling or training of some sort eventually in the future. Finally, they're discontent with the labels society has put on them and would like to change their lives for the "better".

Disgusting people, that second group. They really are the lowest of the low. Especially all the people here wanting to get a job, longing for friends outside and being depressed about their NEET lifestyle. Just die already if you are so sad about your NEET life.

I'm stuck in a situation I don't know how to get out of. A lot of my problems will be solved if I learn how to drive. But there lies the problem.

You see, I live in a rural area. Not by choice, I was raised here. Cars are practically required. When I was a student, there were no drivers' ed courses in my school for some reason. Much of my family told me they would teach me to drive, but they just took me everywhere.

They put it off for years and eventually moved away. The only person left in this town I know is my mother and she can't drive either (doesn't need to now, she's old and stays home). I don't have a car and don't know how to drive, and nobody will teach me. I've called my relatives and asked but they don't want to.

Rural town doesn't have public transportation and few jobs. I need to drive if I want any chance at manageable life, but I've no way to learn. I might have the resources if I were in a city, but I have no way to get to one! And if I did learn, I'd have to find someone to take me to the city to take the test.

Drivers ed is for pussies and queers.

Really driving isn't hard at all, and this is coming from another sheltered shutin who never even touched the wheel until well into my 20s. You only need to pay attention to the other drivers, and master the fine art of using the gas without flooring it into traffic.

How you'll take the test without a car is your problem though, they've probably got some kind of like community car for that or something, but the waiting list will be something out of a greek epic.

No, people hate you because you sit at the side of the road and pull people over for the most meager of shit to fill your quotas.

Thankfully, the cops around here aren't too bad-this is likely due to a low amount of niggers and minorities in cities and almost all whites in the rural areas. I don't hate all cops, but holy shit if the biggest pricks in America aren't police officers when they decide to go on an arbitrary power trip.

Mopeds and scooters and stuff. You don't need a license, and can keep up with traffic just about anywhere but the freeway. You might need a license in certain areas of for certain models though.

Also, just play a fucking racing game or something.
Otherwise it goes like this.
Foot on brake.
Ignition on.
Shift into gear.
Off you fucking go.
Ease into acceleration, and only slam on the breaks when the person who owns the car you're borrowing isn't around, otherwise ease into stopping too.

That's all there is to it. The windshield wipers and lights can easily be figured out on the most obtrusive German import in only several minutes of fucking with them in the parking lot before you go.
