Ray Bradbury
>"I still love books. Nothing a computer can do can compare to a book. You can't really put a book on the Internet. Three companies have offered to put books by me on the Net, and I said, 'If you can make something that has a nice jacket, nice paper with that nice smell, then we'll talk.' All the computer can give you is a manuscript. People don't want to read manuscripts. They want to read books. Books smell good. They look good. You can press it to your bosom. You can carry it in your pocket."

visual novel a shit

"Books. People never really stop loving books. Fifty-first century. By now you've got holovids, direct-to-brain downloads, fiction mist. But you need the smell. The smell of books, Donna. Deep breath!"

>killing millions of trees just so this asshole can rub books on his dick and jack off to the smell

I have no sense of smell so there is no reason to use paper books.

So why are you still saying his name?

>> No.9181734

the one thing I don't like about books is how the spines get fucked up just by opening them.

>> No.9181753

I have a few digital books, but I can't read them. It just doesn't feel the same. The feel of a book, of turning the pages, of leaving a little piece of paper to mark your spot. Hardcovers are just the best too. I just can't use digital.

Also because if I'm on an electrical device with access to the internet, I'll get distracted.

have you ever been to /lit/? it's a high school lit and wanna be philosophy board

I consider electronic means of reading to be superior.
Actual books are what allow book burnings. They are what made the burning of the Library of Alexandria so tragic.
But such things couldn't happen today.

Even if some of the greatest libraries were destroyed, there is so much material circulating on the web. With digital writings, anyone around the world can download and read them. Millions could archive just one book.
It allows the ultimate freedom and accessibility of knowledge. I can have entire libraries in a device smaller than an average, normal book.

He is just an old coot. Books are what allowed Fahrenheit 451 to happen. He should be all for digital literature as it will prevent the dystopias they are so against.
