I suffer the same fate. I've been told that I act arrogantly or something to that effect. I think it's because I'm too shy and never really talk to anyone and I have a stern look on my face when I'm around people.

It is not an easy path to follow.

You must persevere and continue to give love and kindness to everyone you encounter. Their hearts have grown hard and they react in anger and confusion when they encounter love, but with time their hearts will soften.

If you say a kind word to someone and they strike you then you just stand up again and say another kind word to them. They may strike you again, but eventually their hearts will soften and you will have sown the seed of love within their soul.
